by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 7:49 PM EDT up reply actions

I asked about that on Tony Lastoria’s site and he said it’s basically a thing fans are more concerned about than management. Besides, it’s a very complex system. If he performs like we expect him too, he’ll eventually sign a long term contract anyway buying out his arb years.

by JP_Frost on Apr 21, 2009 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions

We’ve been over this quite a bit here, and I believe the conclusion is that the only thing in play is whether he might be that extra early year of arbitration. It’s not going to hold him down if we can use him and he’s ready.

he said it’s basically a thing fans are more concerned about than management.

This seems like a bizarre thing to say.

by dgcambridge on Apr 21, 2009 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions

from Tony:

“The only ones who really worry about Super-2 are the fans. Honestly. I asked about this in the past and more than one Indians official said they don’t worry about it because 1.) it is still hard to predict (if a guy is up and down, you can never really predict it) and mostly 2.) guys who perform will get long term deals anyway before Super 2 status is reached and the ones who don’t will get very little that first arby year.”

I don’t know how I feel about change for the sake of change, but ESPN and MLB.com are always refining their formats. Sometimes, I just really appreciate baseball-reference and its design — nothing but lines of statistics.

Just because you didn’t enjoy a movie as intended doesn’t mean you didn’t like it.

by AngG on Apr 21, 2009 8:18 PM EDT up reply actions

True but if I rate a movie a 4, it’s closest related movies then get a bump in what they assume I would feel, when, in reality, I almost certainly wouldn’t enjoy it unless it matched the extreme irony factor, which is most probably will not.

by JRontherim on Apr 21, 2009 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t really use recommendations on sites like Netflix/Amazon except to laugh at the bizarre things recommended, so I did not consider that.

by AngG on Apr 21, 2009 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions

9 out of 10 recommendations I ignore, but every now and then something I’ve completely forgotten about or something I’ve never heard of will show up and looks good. I wouldn’t have had the chance to watch The Adventures of Ford Fairlane without it.

by JRontherim on Apr 21, 2009 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions

And for what it’s worth, the ironic movie was Chairman of the Board, starring Carrot Top as a surfer/inventor. It…is…amazing.

by JRontherim on Apr 21, 2009 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions

They really need to find a way to give a split rating. So you can give a movie a top ranking for enjoyment and a lowet ranking for the fact that it was also pretty terrible. (Note: This is how I feel about the TV move Black Circle Boys. I don’t think it was supposed to be funny.)

by AngG on Apr 21, 2009 8:25 PM EDT up reply actions

by xrickx on Apr 21, 2009 8:18 PM EDT reply actions

If Francisco was from Texas, Drayton McLane might consider it.

by xrickx on Apr 21, 2009 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions

This actually begs a follow up question. Is Ben Fran better than Ryan Ludwick?

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions

That can’t be possible, can it?

by Chief Wahoo on Apr 21, 2009 8:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Ludwick showed less than BenFran in the AL!

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Ludwick was a better prospect than Francisco. Ludwick always had the low average, high power label. I don’t recall him every being anything but an “everyday guy” prospect. The Indians saw some glimpses of that. Francisco has always been a fourth outfielder.

Nope, never heard of it. DETAILS.

by JRontherim on Apr 21, 2009 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Umm some of us LGTers have a fantasy league named PEBA.

http://www.peba.allsimbaseball3.com

Check it out, you never know when we will have an opening.

Nice, I’ll keep an eye on it

by JRontherim on Apr 21, 2009 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

I can’t process that as anything but Order Of The Phoenix. This is a very confusing mental image, as you surely understand.

by AngG on Apr 21, 2009 8:31 PM EDT up reply actions

That scared me, but Pronk looks okay

by Roger Dorn on Apr 21, 2009 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

Don’t hit PRONK!

by Julie on Apr 21, 2009 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

OH NO, please don’t be hurt TRAVIS

by NickFantana on Apr 21, 2009 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

DID THAT HIT HIS SHOULDER?!?! DID ANYBODY SEE IT!??! DID IT HIT THE SHOULDER?!?!

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

His shin calm down.

Am I the only one who immediately thought of Hook upon reading this?

by Chief Wahoo on Apr 21, 2009 8:35 PM EDT up reply actions

right on the knee. Seems to be okay.

by JimmyAB on Apr 21, 2009 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Please don’t blow out Mr. Pronk’s knee…

by JimmyAB on Apr 21, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

Strike zones are hard, okay?

by AngG on Apr 21, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

Robinson Tejada. fantastic.

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

haha, Tejeda’s pretty relaxed so far.

by JP_Frost on Apr 21, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

He was aiming for the umpire.

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

maybe he thought the man with the black mask was stealing Victor’s wallet.

Good man this Tejeda

by JP_Frost on Apr 21, 2009 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Whee! I throw the ball!

by Julie on Apr 21, 2009 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Travis made it to second, so he’s not dead.

by NickFantana on Apr 21, 2009 8:34 PM EDT reply actions

After observing in person, I am pretty confident in saying that Pronk is way faster than Vic and Garko

by Roger Dorn on Apr 21, 2009 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Why didn’t you always believe this?

by mjschaefer on Apr 21, 2009 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions

They were all lumped into the same slow category for me

by Roger Dorn on Apr 21, 2009 8:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I think Victor might be the slowest player in the majors.

by mjschaefer on Apr 21, 2009 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Molina begs to differ

by JP_Frost on Apr 21, 2009 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions

This is true. I forgot. I watched him single off the wall back on opening day.

by mjschaefer on Apr 21, 2009 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

the guy gets thrown out at first on a homerun.

I kid, I kid.

by JP_Frost on Apr 21, 2009 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions

I kinda thought Jhonny was right there in the slow category.

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Hell no. It’s relative.

Hafner is significantly faster than the catchers, and Peralta is probably faster than Hafner.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Apr 21, 2009 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

There are a lot of people who are faster than Victor and Garko. Some of them are zombies.

by AngG on Apr 21, 2009 8:35 PM EDT up reply actions   1 recs

Zombies get slowed down when they have to go back and pick up an arm.

by Julie on Apr 21, 2009 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Some people argue slow/fast zombies, but I see you and I are going to argue whether zombies are conscientious or not.

by AngG on Apr 21, 2009 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Zombies are slow.

Vampires are fast.

QED.

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s like leaving a whole scoop of ice cream behind. Double chocolate BRAIN ice cream.

by Julie on Apr 21, 2009 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Zombies scare the hell out of me. And they’re slow.

So 2009.

by Gradyforpresident on Apr 22, 2009 3:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Garko looks kinda quick. But only when he’s hustling to first after a walk.

by Chief Wahoo on Apr 21, 2009 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Keep them off the board, Laffey.

by xrickx on Apr 21, 2009 8:38 PM EDT reply actions

Ah well.

again Tejeda celebrates like he closed out game 7. He wasn’t particularly impressive.

by JP_Frost on Apr 21, 2009 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

With the Royals I think every game carries that kind of element.

by mjschaefer on Apr 21, 2009 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

maybe you’re right, but it’s annoying anyway. Greinke throws 34 scoreless innings and behaves normally, this guy records 2 outs after 2 wild pitches, allowing a runner to score in a 6-1 game, and points to the sky like Jesus himself gave him the willpower.

by JP_Frost on Apr 21, 2009 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions

He does throw hard. He did keep it within five runs!

I FOUND THE STRIKE ZONE! I FOUND THE STRIKE ZONE!

Oy, feel like crap, just woke up. Anyone care to give a brief recap?

Willie Bloomquist is starting in a corner outfield spot for one team. As you would expect, that team is not doing well.

by xrickx on Apr 21, 2009 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions

LAffey getting a lot of westbrooks and Grady and Vic rule

by Roger Dorn on Apr 21, 2009 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions

THEM: grounding out a lot

US: scoring on wild pitches and a 3-run borgsmash.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Apr 21, 2009 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions

YES

recap: Ponson sucks

by baerga1 on Apr 21, 2009 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Victor and Pronk and GRRRady are awesome. Laffey is okey.

The STO announcers might be drunk.

better than even money

by gte619n on Apr 21, 2009 8:42 PM EDT up reply actions

which is just as good as cash!

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Apr 21, 2009 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Haha, none of us gave an informative answer.

by xrickx on Apr 21, 2009 8:42 PM EDT up reply actions

You JUST missed the good part.

So I’m going to the game on Sunday. Since my presence always guarantees vistory, I figure I’ll be there to see them get to their first game over .500.
