Should there be an electoral college for All Star voting?
I mean, if there wasn’t one for Presidential elections, the candidates would need only focus on campaigning in the a handful of the most populous areas/states of the country.
Basically, a popular vote for starters ensures that the teams with the widest fan bases will garner the most votes (Not always, but imagine Pedroia starting over Kinsler, or any Kansas City Royal who might be worthy.)
Eric Wedge. The Adam LaRoche of managers.
Yep, that’s the all-star game, basically. Not at all a new issue. I don’t think the league has an issue with this – it’s in their interest that the players with the most fans are visible in the all-star game to get higher ratings/general interest. To them, the fact that the benches are not voted on is enough of a compromise for you (and every other logical person who would argue what you do).
