What happened to Brantley?

Hello everyone, I haven't had a chance to read through all the game threads, so perhaps someone mentioned this and I missed it, but I am curious - what happened to Michael Brantley?  I've noticed that he's been missing from the Columbus lineup the last three games, and while I can see him getting a day off, I know there has to be more to his absence than just getting a day off when he misses three straight games.  Is he injured, was there a death in the family, or is there another reason?

Has anyone heard anything and when will he likely return to the Columbus lineup?  Any information would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

slight hamstring pull, not serious apparently. I think while the weather’s cold they’re happy to give Barfield some playing time in CF.

Hello mcrose,

Thanks for the update – greatly appreciated! I figured it was an injury – yes, it’s been cool in Columbus; it should be warming up by the weekend (presuming the Clippers are still at home) – not sure, so perhaps Brantley will be back sooner rather than later, though I’d rather be safe than sorry. Plus, finding out if Barfield can play CF well enough to be useful and maybe even he rediscovering his 2006 stroke certainly has its own benefits.

Again, thanks for the update – greatly appreciated!

You had no problem with that word requirement, did you?

Hello westbrook,

Good observation – I thought my words would be better than … or zzz or blah, blah, blah, etc. :-)

Holy Grits, Columbus and Louisville had 14 hits apiece (plus 3 BBs apiece) tonight, but the Clippers scored 14 runs and the Bats (the Bats?!) just 4.

I’ve seen the Bats play!

It’s a crime they changed their name from the Sluggers.

Now, now. They were never the Sluggers, though they do play in Slugger Field. They were the RiverBats, and before that the Redbirds and Colonels.

Well, it’s a crime that they were never named the Sluggers.

Lonnie Chiz can’t avoid racking up 5 RBI a game…now two days in a row

Another grand slam. Meanwhile, I need someone to again tell me that Wegz is OK. He’s still fighting that the half-mendoza line and losing, even though he finally hit a HR recently. He already shaved his head to try to break out of it.

Other than Santana the whole team is struggling offensively.

In three games, Dellucci is 5-for-12 with 2 BB, 1 K and is even 2-for-2 in SB tries. Yay, I guess.

He’ll be blocking LaPorta for at least one more year.
