Chicago Bar Thread: Wednesday, April 8th

What:

Starting what I'd like to become a slightly more regular practice if it goes well... All Chicagoland Let's Go Tribe locals are welcome to get together for some good beers, some uncomfortable silences, some celebrity encounters** and some Indians baseball.

When:

For this installment, we're going to hit up the first evening game this Wednesday to watch ¡Fausto! mow down the Rangers. 7:05pm Local Time (CST).

Where:

***Goose Island Wrigleyville - 3535 North Clark Street ***

With indeterminate numbers, we'll probably mull around the general bar area.

***I spoke with some idiot today that said they won't get the EI package until later if the Cubs stay in contention. But that makes no sense, as they would get Cubs games regardless. I'm pretty confident they'll at least be getting the free preview of EI this week, but need to check back when someone more with it is working. But I wanted to get this going so people can clear their night. We can update a change of venue here if need be.

**Andrew will be signing copies of The Annual if you want to bring your copy and $10, a small price to pay for the experience. Note: He will only sign the page with the Zachson photo.

Looking forward to it. There are some posters that come from varied Chicagoland regions, so if you need a ride or something, you might post here and see if anyone else is coming down/up.

It stops at the mall on the south side of town! I was considering taking the Megabus to a Mudhens game this year, but can’t figure out how to get downtown.

I’m in AZ now, but I always used to go to Newport Bar and Grille (Newport and Southport) to watch games (just north off Southport Brown Line stop).

Usually not too many people, they have MLB Extra Innings, beer specials, and they’ll usually turn on the sound if there’s a group.

Have fun wherever you end up. If you do go to Newport, get the Patty Melt and cajun fries. That’s just good eatin’.

In, of course. I’m signing copies of the Annual for 28 quarters. To be honest, I’m not sure how much money that is – but it will let me park downtown for 2 hours and that seems fair to me.

So I just talked to Goose again. The person I talked to put me on hold to go ask someone else – who must have been the person I talked to yesterday because I got the same line.

Regardless of his misunderstandimation of the way EI and local Cubs broadcasting works, they said they should have the free preview this week.

Let’s stick to Goose. Worst case, we’re in a sportsbar-dense area and we bounce to a nearby bar that has it.
