Well, I made it all the way through. Pretty standard fare. He chooses what he thinks is an “easy” topic, writing about the pain of being a Cleveland fan in the broadest sense. But just because you talk about something a lot doesn’t mean it’s easy to write about it. He doesn’t really nail it. The Cleveland fan mojo is something more specific than just being accustomed to not winning. Money quote:
This year, the Cavs are in a position that no Cleveland team has been in since the mid-90s Indians reigned. They are at the top of the league. They are the favorites. The ones with the target on their backs. This is the greatest season in franchise history. All Cavs fans should be enjoying every game, every win, every LBJ dunk. Yet, when you read anything online or in the newspaper, it is apparent that a lot of Clevelanders are not living in the moment. They are wary that something – anything – will go wrong during the Cavs’ playoff run. There are criticisms of Mike Brown’s coaching, debates on who is getting too much playing time or who is getting too little playing time, and discussions about the Cavs’ many weaknesses. They talk about where Lebron might be going next year and what it might take to keep him here instead.
Emphasis mine. It isn’t clear to me that any of this separates Cleveland fans from others, although if anything does, it’s the part in bold.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I think what makes the Cleveland fan unique is the ability to enjoy every LBJ dunk, every win, etc. while still, in the back of your mind, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not just waiting, but expecting. And it’s a tough habit to break if you were raised by other Cleveland sports fans.

One thing I’ve always liked about our lot is that, although we never seem to win, we don’t wallow or embrace the “lovable loser” mentality. I’ve seen articles like this pop up more frequently in the last few years, and while I there isn’t anything explicitly in this post that is really pointing in this type of direction, I hope we’re not as a fanbase starting to go down that path.
