When the Tribe was in SF, my friends and I went, they being Giants fans, and I an Indians one (obviously). My buddy’s season tickets are literally about a foot and a half away from the away team on deck circle, amazing seats. Boone was on deck, and he was batting .180 at the time, and my buddy yelled something like “YOU RIDE THE i80 IN TOWN?” which comes through SF. Boone looked legitimately hurt. Julio Lugo also told us to blank ourselves.

the team you want to win still has the lead. the by pitching to cabrera, the indians were going to make the tigers take at least TWO swings to tie it. by your route, it would have only taken one.

but the guy who would have been that tying run grounded out.

hindsight and empty bases, but yeah.

maybe not, but falling behind to Cabrera who is a great hitter and off to an even greater start isn’t such a great idea. I’d rather take my chances with Guillen who hasn’t been hitting at all this year.

Ben Francisco: An Outfielder only on baseball cards and roster sheets.

by westbrook on May 1, 2009 10:24 PM EDT reply actions

Eric Wedge couldn’t manage a fucking fruit stand. Perez instead of Sipp? He brings in Jensen Lewis, he of the infinite home run rate to face Magglio and Cabrera. What the hell is Joe Smith doing on the roster if you don’t use him to face tough right handed hitters?

by cheech99 on May 1, 2009 10:24 PM EDT reply actions

Perez in a 6-0 game, yes. And he get Grandersen to hit a weak grounder that went for an infield single.

by xrickx on May 1, 2009 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions

it was a 5 run lead when Perez came in. You need to give him the chance to work his way back. I agree on Smith though.

by JP_Frost on May 1, 2009 10:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Wedge is saving Sipp for high leverage spots. Saving him for Sat. and Sun. I can’t say that I blame him there.
