Hawk Harrelson, Professional Idiot
In response to Bobby Jenks getting warned for throwing behind Ian Kinsler, Hawk Harrelson demands that MLB get umpires who can correctly judge the ebb-and-flow of the baseball game. He's sure that Jenks has no reason to throw at anybody.
Post-game, Bobby Jensk confirms that the pinch was intentional.
Harrelson, who watches every pitch of every White Sox game, misses the obvious, while the umpire, who sees only a small portion of White Sox games, gets it absolutely correct.
Watch the video in the link, listen to Hawk, and find further confirmation that he's undoubtedly one of the most idiotic announcers with a job.

while hawk is an idiot
there’s a large difference between throwing at a player and throwing behind a player, which is what jenks did. and the article you link to makes rather clear.

Your argument is completely misplaced and irrelevant. Whether Jenks threw at him or behind him is not the issue.
Harrelson erupted and called for the umpire’s job under the pretense that the pitch was NOT intentional. The only person guilty of Harrelson’s exact charges against the umpire was Harrelson.
If Harrelson was advancing the argument that Jenks has great control and he wanted to send a message without hitting Kinsler, then you’re spot on. But Hawk wasn’t even in that arena. He was adamant that the umpire was clueless, and that Jenks was completely innocent of any wrongdoing.
He couldn’t have been more wrong. And it’s not because he missed just this one— it’s because he’s an impartial cheerleader in the booth. It’s sad that he’s the window through which a whole city gets their exposure to a team, because he’s not anywhere near competent.

I think most the city knows that, not to defend the average White Sox fan. I’m sure there are plenty of people that love the guy, and more, like my best friend, that will through out a half-hearted defense, often times only to tick me off, but they know he’s a complete fool.

Agreed. I give White Sox fans the benefit of the doubt, especially with today’s coverage that allows the casual fan to hear multiple broadcasters. As much as you can find comfort in the familiarity of the hometown voices, I believe firmly that most people recognize that he doesn’t set a high bar.

Trudat.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

What makes Harrelson and the other douche so “unlistenable” is the fact that regardless of what goes on, they are consistently biased and completely pretentious. Even if Jenks was trying to make a point with that pitch, Harrelson should stick to describing the event instead of giving his opinion.

The other “douche” is now Steve Stone, one of the best in the business. Who got fired from his last regular gig in Chicago for being too objective when talking about Kerry Wood and Mark Prior. The Sox got rid of DJ in the offseason. Why they kept Hawk is anyone’s guess.

We can still show the Japaneese Baseball Clip of that guy, right?

I never liked Stone. He and Caray (Cubs) were the only guys I had to listen to growing up-there wasn’t much cable and no team in AZ. His monotone was like listening to a dead man speak.

I think it’d be pretty exciting listening to a dead man speak.
