Hafner starts rehab - will still have "periods of weakening"
Hafner starts his rehab in Columbus on Friday. Dr. James Andrews councils the need for "extra maintenance". Andy Marte finds bench. Hafner traded to Padres because of Marte's "dominoe games" with Amy Hafner. Rick Manning goes tanning. Blaine Neal is confused.

Wes Hodges has been the DH 12 times. Really, I didn’t mean much by it. He may or may not. It really doesn’t matter. The important part of this to me is that the comment by Dr. Andrews does not exactly inspire confidence in a healthy Hafner for the rest of the year.
I refuse to ever root for a team that routinely does the MVP chant for opposing players.

Hodges has been DHing because he has an injury that is keeping him from playing third.

I love that the first reaction is, “What does this mean for Andy Marte?”
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
It’s Marte’s world. We’re just living in it.

Speaking of Andy Marte, another article in the Columbus Dispatch, this one from this morning.

Miraculously, Marte’s indolence and lack of concern has become hard work and resolution. History has been re-written!
Apparently, nobody told Torey Lovullo about the company line.

I am actually very happy with the situation as it stands. I want Marte to stay in AAA and keep tearing it up
I like DeRosa, and I liked that trade. Still, IF Marte is given a real opportunity to establish himself in the majors, and if he succeeds — two very big ifs — then this guy is in our big-league bullpen right now.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
At the time of the trade, my thought was that we had built enough bullpen depth to allow ourselves to make a move like that. Kind of foolish in retrospect to ever think that
I think you’re joking, but the truth is, we should pay more attention to things like that. When we see minor league numbers, it’s easy to overlook the walks — who cares about the walks, the important thing is whether he’s going to get battered by major league hitters.
But then the guy gets to the majors and walks a couple of batters, and we’re all tearing our hair out — AAAAAAAAH! WHY ARE YOU WALKING BATTERS??? HOW STUPID IS THIS!!!!
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Wrong syntax. It’s:
READ THIS MELOAN
No punctuation, it’s all-caps to act as a “billboard,” not to express emotion.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Or perhaps excessive punctuation?
RERAD THIS MALONNE !!!!!!!!!!!!>!!>!>!!!!!!
Sometimes, I just like to b****.
That’s why I don’t think Stevens is as good as his numbers indicate. We’re still talking minute sample size, but nine walks compared to 13 k’s isn’t good no matter where you’re pitching. It suggests he’s been wild, so guys have been taking a lot of pitches from him and not swinging or getting hits (thus the low WHIP number).
Yeah, I’m not crazy about walks from relief pitchers either.
Sometimes, I just like to b****.
He may not be. Remember, with all the problems they had in the bullpen last year, he never was called up. The Olympics played a role in that, but still. Also, the Cubs sent him down really early this spring.
it was your first reaction, or it was your first reaction to the first reaction?
