Is that seriously what he looks like? My opinion on Huff has soared.

Good to see Wedge is going out in a blaze of idiocy with that lineup. He use the old “names in a hat” to determine positiona?
Sadly, Wedge isn’t going to be fired. But we can dream.

If my job depended on the outcome of baseball games, would I ever start Huff and rest Grady on the same day? Either Wedge knows he’s gone or knows there’s no way he’s gone

Okay … WTF is this?
If Wedge really has screwed up the lineup card somehow … May 18 …
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
STO is saying that the D-Rays have Longoria listed at DH and 5. Or something.

I think so.

This is what Grover did in a Nagy start at one point. Nagy ended up batting three times, I think. Really looked awful all the way around.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
But he got a hit!

Sounds like Wedge is trying to say that the Rays effed up the DH. Maybe they won’t get to use it?

That’s great .. but why ice your own starter .. making his MLB debut?

If there are two 5’s on a line up card? What is he supposed to do? Let it go? I don’t think this rattles Huff.
Case of the beet bandit. Missing beets from all over the farm, no footprints. Inside job. Mose in socks. Boom. Case closed. -Dwight Schrute
Why not do it … after the Rays take the field and get the 1st out …
If Zobrist is the DH … that’s when I would do it … he’s in the field … DH is gone.
Ice their pitcher … not ours.
by FallsTribeFan on May 17, 2009 1:56 PM EDT up reply actions
Zobrist did.
Longoria was listed on the card as the 3B … Zobrist took the position.
I would think after the 1st out was recorded .. .you could make the argument.

They are speculating that Huff’s name is not on the lineup card, so maybe he can’t pitch.

way to make Huff comfortable in his debut, Wedge. First you take away his all-star CF, put two other guys in strange fielding positions, and then do the equivalent of calling a timeout while the place kicker is setting up
TB is saying Huff is not on the lineup card.

by Buckeye Brad on May 17, 2009 1:55 PM EDT up reply actions
seems to me that if the player was in the field, that they either lose the DH or they need to pinch hit? Am I thinking straight on this?
If they have to call the League office, then it probably has something to do with a roster move, i.e. Huff.
I'm not really into Song of Hiawatha.
“Rosie” or whoever the heck is the guy who feeds information to Hammy/Hegan has confirmed that the issue is with the Rays having two 3B listed.
curious how the Rays’ broadcasters have no idea what’s going on

Case of the beet bandit. Missing beets from all over the farm, no footprints. Inside job. Mose in socks. Boom. Case closed. -Dwight Schrute
my question is this:
Did Wedge have to wait until the end of the inning to file the complaint … if he did … I recant everything and its the proper move.
If not, I do it in the top of the 1st with the opposing pitcher on the hill.
by FallsTribeFan on May 17, 2009 2:02 PM EDT up reply actions
So … it could have been done in the top of the first correct?
It’s a great catch … don’t get me wrong … I’d just prefer to ice their pitcher rather than ours.
by FallsTribeFan on May 17, 2009 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions
You know, I’m not clear on that. Wedge obviously thought the rules would more work in our favor if he allowed the first batter to go up there, but I’m not sure why.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Yeah, me neither.
I’ll recant the “icing” statement … I’m guessing they know more about the proper time to challenge than I.

the sticking point may not have been whether or not sonnastine bats for longoria, but whether or not longoria is eligible to enter the game later.

Not enough at that one position, but pretty much any above-average 3B is going to be an above-average 1B, as long as he’s familiar with what to do in different situations.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
as long as he’s familiar with what to do in different situations
That’s the problem, though. He botched the pickoff because he’s not used to playing first. So he might be better than Garko with fielding but he’s going to make mistakes because he’s not familiar with the position.

So Oakland jumped on Detroit with 6 runs in the first two innings but the Tigers came back with 4 runs in both the second and third. Tigers still up 8-6 in the fifth.
So let me get this straight. Our bullpen now contains the likes of Matt Herges, Luis Vizcaino, and Greg Aquino?
Teaching is actually not underappreciated, apparently. There was some survey that showed that teachers commanded the third most respect as a profession behind doctors and fireman, or something like that. Ahead of lawyers.
