Kerry Wood did WHAT???!!??
The first of many long conversations with Sam Levin, born yesterday at 3:50 p.m. As far as he knows so far, the Indians have never lost, and the Cavs have never won.

Congrats – it looks like Sam is trying to yell, “Fire Wedge!”

It is the absolute best. And that thing people always say, about it passing way too quickly, well they’re right! So enjoy every minute (except maybe the one where he eventually bangs the car into the garage door at age sixteen).
Safe to say this baby is responsible for Gomez’s perfect game?

Nice! All the best to you and your wife. May Sam see a Tribe World Championship before his first date.
If you believe it's just a game, you're also probably wondering why Santa keeps skipping your house every year.
May Sam see a Tribe World Championship before his firstdatesentence.

This should not be taken as me wishing your child to be linguistically stunted. Just to be clear.

Congratulations!
The countdown begins: Jay manages his first tee ball game April 12, 2009.

Err … 2014.
That’s what I get for posting on a blackberry while at of all things a baseball league board meeting.

Congratulations to you and Mrs. L’vin. Wonderful news.

Great news Jay. Glad to hear you and yours are doing well. My son is a constant (well almost constant) source of fun and joy for me. You are going to have such a good time!

Congratulations Jay, best thing that can ever happen. Just yesterday my 3 boys and I were about to head to their swimming lessons, the 5 and 7 year olds were with me watching Kerry Wood get the last two outs with the bases loaded, we yelled, cheered and gave each other high fives, heck we even managed to get to the swimming lessons on time.
One day I'll get over to watch the Tribe play

Oh and by the way, my 7 year old wants to know who all the strange people are that write stuff that pops up on the screen during the games!!

Congrats Jay – enjoy!
My son will be 14 later this year. I remember two particular Indians related things from when he was born and the first few months. The Ken Hill trade went down the day after he was born and going in to his room and picking him up and holding him after Lofton scored from second on the wild pitch in Game 6 of the ALCS.
Here’s hoping you have similar moments with Sam this season.
Congrats.
New babies are great for watching late TV. When my son was born in August (2001) I saw most of every west coast baseball and footall game for months.
Another newbie reduced to tears by Jay.
Congrats, old man. That kid’s gonna have some fun.

Congratulations to you and many condolences to Sam for his induction into the Indians Cult of Despair. My 9 year old was born on the day a Yankee pitched a perfect game, named after the current President of the Texas Rangers (who was inducted into the Hall of Fame a few days later) and takes Indians losses harder than I do.
Congratulations, Jay. I can’t think of a better person to indoctrinate the world’s newest Indians fan.

You can almost see it, right:
Sam: But Dad, look at his RBI’s, he’s on track for 110 this year.
Jay: Sam, I don’t know how many times we have to go through this. RBIs are not a stat that we put much stock in in this house.
Sam: I don’t care what you say, they are NOT idiot stats.
Jay: Okay Sam, prove it.
Sam: You’re an idiot and I hate you.
Jay: I think you should re-read the ground rules.
Sam: I bet someone on the blog would back me up.
Jay: I bet they would. I bet they would. And then I’ll rip them a new one.
Sam: A new one what?
Jay: Nevermind, 110 RBIs are good.

Congratulations to you and your family, Jay! Have a blast.
But, by the expression Sam’s face, I think you might have told him about cleveland.com a little bit too soon.

Given the run differential, I’d say Sam has been the beneficiary of some luck.

Before Sam:

Runs scored per game: 5.2 before, 6.1 after
Runs allowed per game: 5.8 before, 4.4 after
Pythagorean win percentage: .452 before, .642 after
Pythagorean efficiency: -.102 before, +.136 after
In short, before we played like a team with 73-win talent and bad luck, now we play like a team 104-win talent and good luck.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
These numbers look familiar. Wait, are you sure he wasn’t born right before the second half of the 2008 season?
