I find it amusing that you have to pay to read an ESPN story about how Jeremy Sowers doesn’t have a very good fastball.

I just remembered, I really don’t like Nick Swisher.

Please help me out. I’ve been camping on the coast (that’s the pacific coast) this weekend and didn’t hear about Vic. How serious was he hurt? I did turn on the car long enough to hear Jhonny’s game winner yesterday (thanks to XM radio) though. LGT!
First of all, kudos for being awesome and camping, love that stuff. Second yeah, not that serious like Patrick said. He fouled it right off his kneecap and it looked like it could be bad cuz he could barely walk. I’m confident that it was just a nasty bruise, but we’ll see today if he looks even worse than normal on the basebaths.

Not to be too negative, but the one bad thing about playing at home is that it is possible for the game to feel like it’s over before you’ve even had a chance to bat. I’m not feeling Sowers tonight, if you can’t tell.
Hey guys, I’m watching the game live online for free. If anyone wants the link, let me know. It’s streaming pretty good with no lags.

I’m aware he’s not on the team, if that’s what you are asking. I realized after posting it that it wasn’t really very funny. Great start Sowers.

How is coming back for that at bat “tough” by Victor? I love the guy, but if you can’t run 3 steps, that falls under the “stupid” category
Exactly – even if he gets it to the outfield, especially RF, he might have gotten thrown out.

Hey people. Finally made it home from the eighth circle of hell… er, I mean work.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
I dunno, what they’re saying about him, but I can’t come up with one logical reason to bash him. Not one.
"I gotta be honest, I dunno much about the climate in Japan." - Matt Underwood
He stalked off the court after game 6 without shaking hands with the Magic. And he didn’t talk to the media. They think as the face of the Cavs and the NBA he’s obligated to talk to the media after his season ended “to give closure”.
I don’t know if he’s obligated to “give closure”, but acting in a sportsmanlike manner can’t be that difficult.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
Well I think he might have been a little bit emotional, maybe pissed off. I think he earned the right to get out of there without being harassed.
I’m not talking about giving interviews. I’m referring to his statement that he didn’t need to shake hands with the opposing team because he was mad.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
I personally don’t think he’s obliged to do sorty of interview after. The media has made us think he’s obliged to, but if you need an interview with the man to know how he’s feeling, then I think you need to stop and think about it what just happened.
Shaking hands, well, OK I feel he could have at least pretended on that one. “Yeah good game” then leave.
"I gotta be honest, I dunno much about the climate in Japan." - Matt Underwood
Which reminds me, my “friend” here at work was pretty peeved about the Jeter call at first yesterday. I just chuckled and said “yeah, but how pretty was that throw?!” :)
"I gotta be honest, I dunno much about the climate in Japan." - Matt Underwood
Yah, I’m sure A-Rod’s sitting out because the Yankees are “going” for a useless record. Phillips is such a moron.
What record, most ways to piss off an opposing fan base in one series?
"I gotta be honest, I dunno much about the climate in Japan." - Matt Underwood
consecutive innings without committing an error. Or it might be consecutive games. I don’t really know or care.

Yeah basically. I bet they’d say Grady isn’t a base stealer. (Last year.)

That’s it, next paycheck I’m getting a Choo jersey. No more aprehension.

I already had this plan. The first Indians team store I see in Cleveland I’m buying a Choo jersey.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
I don’t think they’ll have them at the satellite team shops. You’ll probably have to wait until you get to the stadium shop.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
I am fairly sure they didn’t sell them online the last time I checked. Maybe they do now.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
I assume it has already been mentioned that Columbus put up an 11 spot in the 3rd tonight, and that Laporta and Marte are both 3-3?
Sucks that Andy likely can’t play the outfield.

I am often amazed at this team’s ability to show me new ways to fail that I had never dreamed of.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
I’m just showing up to say that I can’t believe we had 2 on & nobody out & managed to small ball ourselves out of the inning.
*sigh*
Though Joba & his fist pump can suck it. Yay, you made a nice play in the 5th inning in May. Good for you.
*sigh*
It was the right call. Kelly failing miserably is just one of those things.
by supermarioelia on Jun 1, 2009 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions
its time Jeremy, to let us know if you are a good pitcher or a bad pitcher.
say is Sowers equally sucky with Shoppach and Vick?
My god, Phillips is unbearable. That whole exchange about Choo was hilarious. What a fool. Its a shame someone as good as Hershiser has to share his air-time.
Also, Hegan made some of the worst PBP calls I have ever heard in the second inning. He couldn’t even do simple plays.
Yeah this makes a ton of sense. I want you to go face to face with the guy who wanted to leave in Pavano yesterday. And you can duke it out til the death.

Just stopping by to see everyone’s reaction to calling Shoppach for a bunt with 2 men on, no outs, in the 5th inning, in a tie fucking ballgame.
Didn’t mind the call at all. Execution was inexcusible.
by supermarioelia on Jun 1, 2009 8:55 PM EDT up reply actions
Shoppach stands a legitimate chance of launching that ball out of the park and we call for a bunt? Small ball where we don’t need just one run in the middle of the game????
Shoppach is the guy I want up in that situation (of our bottom order guys). Not likely to GIDP, likely to strikeout, likely to hit the ball a long way.
First, that storm looks crazy, so I’m not buying 9 innings.
Second, I’m not hanging my hat, or any article of clothing for that matter on Shoppach launching anything for the next month.
by supermarioelia on Jun 1, 2009 8:57 PM EDT up reply actions
You’ve got Droobs and Ben coming up. Not sure where your Shoppach love is coming from here.
by supermarioelia on Jun 1, 2009 9:00 PM EDT up reply actions
Shoppach’s OPS’ing like 720 right now and is a premo-power hitter. That does not mean, to me, that he has forsaken his right to swing in the 5th inning.
Neither of us are backing down on this.
by supermarioelia on Jun 1, 2009 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions
And Droobs and Ben are over 800 OPS and not K-ing at nearly as bad a clip. There is really no good argument for letting him swing.
"I gotta be honest, I dunno much about the climate in Japan." - Matt Underwood
Except that Shoppach is sitting on ~100 PAs, and I don’t use that to dismiss his body of work from ‘07 and ’08. Let’s roll that dice a few hundred more times before we start using it to predict the result of his next AB.
This is where I am. I am sick of this team not being able to lay down a bunt. Inexcusible. I don’t care if you don’t like small ball, or you think that only national league clubs should be able to bunt. If you choose to argue that, go ahead. But you and everyone else here knows that it’s bullshit.
