No. I like both except when you can’t understand the southern accents and they sound dumb.

I guess that’s more prevalent where you’re from perhaps? In Ohio if you have a heavy accent you seem to automatically sound dumb.

Well in St. Louis it may be the same thing but I think I’ve just probably heard more a variety of southern accents at Clemson so I have comparisons.

Right. We’d get a lot more in return for him if we didn’t demand 2009 talent, but if we weren’t demanding 2009 talent…

You can finish that sentence, I guess.

this obviously depends on when he’s traded. As soon as the Indians surrender the season, they’ll be looking to trade him for the best 2010 help they can get, even if it’s not someone ready in 2009.

Hippos are the number one killers of humans.

Would you believe this is the second time I’ve uttered that phrase today?

I believe in Carl Pavano.

by Logodaedalus on Jun 11, 2009 9:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Really? It was mentioned last night? I totally missed that.

One of my coworkers today was telling me he wanted a hippo as a pet, and I responded with the phrase I mentioned above.

I believe in Carl Pavano.

But all of those things, in turn, do make it funny.

From, Ben

by bentausig on Jun 11, 2009 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Not necessarily. Once you reach a certain age, shock seriously loses it’s value and moves over into eyeroll territory.

I’m not saying the above quote is not funny, as I’ve never seen it in context. I’m just sayin’.

I believe in Carl Pavano.

It’s different for everyone. I got very tired of shock as early as my junior year in college.

I believe in Carl Pavano.

by salome on Jun 11, 2009 9:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Shock for the sake of shock, yes. That is lame. But that comment in this environment did strike me as funny because of how wildly out of place it was. I won’t deny that.
