The Criticisms of CLE are the Reasons for COL's Success
The winning streak began only a few days after Clint Hurdle was fired as the Colorado manager {FIRE WEDGE JUST TO MAKE A CHANGE} and replaced by Jim Tracy. It was a pivotal point for the Rockies, Cook believes, because the players understood that they were responsible for Hurdle's exit {SEE! FIRE HIM!}. "A lot of us realized that it wasn't him that wasn't out there executing," Cook said.
Rockies' pitching has been nothing short of superb, surrendering four runs or less {HELLO, FAUSTO JEREMY REYES} during the entire winning streak. "I think we've been able to take the pressure off the hitters," Cook said. "A lot of games early in the year, we [in the rotation] were giving up two or three runs early, and the hitters were really not in a position to relax … Tulo [Troy Tulowitzki] was saying the other day, the clubhouse is a lot looser, and guys are expecting to win. {AS OPPOSED TO OUR GUYS WHO ARE SO TIGHTLY WOUND BY WEDGE THAT THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE APPETITES}"
[Cook's] session in front of a videotape machine with Rockies pitching coach Bob Apodaca illuminated the problem for him{WOAH, THEY MADE AN ADJUSTMENT}, however. Cook saw that just before he was driving forward in his delivery{OMG FAUSTO'S TOO DUMB TO NOTICE SOMETHING LIKE THAT}, he was leaning toward the plate, his body tilted forward slightly -- and because of this, his body was ahead of his arm in the synchronization of his mechanics. This was causing his front shoulder to turn open before his arm was in optimal position to throw, flattening out his sinker{FAUSTO!!}.
Cook made an adjustment in his bullpen session{A WHAT??}, staying upright rather than leaning, staying back long enough to create the necessary time for his arm to lock and load. Right away, he could see a difference; right away, there was a difference in performance. His ground ball ratio has increased by a factor of three {SEE, FAUSTO} since he made that adjustment, and his ERA is at 2.91 since.

So what’s the point about Fausto? I won’t immediately assume that you’re suggesting that Willis and Fausto have never looked at video and tried to make adjustments in bullpen sessions, because that would be moronic.
It’s one thing to identify what is going wrong and another thing to execute any adjustments that need to be made.
I’m also not quite sure what your point is, Westy. This is either too subtle or too blunt for me.

I’m just saying there should be a meeting first. You guys can’t just spring things on me like this.
Steel Nick
This is funny to me. We just all meet and are like okay now what are we calling this person? Do they get a nickname? Would it get a Fanshot or something? How does this work?

It usually works that someone gives a nickname a try in a game thread or occasionally a fanpost/shot. Usually a couple posters will mention their affection for that particular attempt at a nickname and other posters may begin to use it. Often times a bad nickname is called out immediately and discouraged from future use. Jay, in particular, has successfully stalled the growth of some nicknames from catching on.
The best example was when we signed Roberto Hernandez and a poster almost immediately casually threw out Oldberto which caught on like wildfire.
That’s how it works for player nicknames. I don’t think we really have a protocol for LGTer nicknames.

I feel strongly about nicknames as memes, and about memes in general. The quality of a virtual community’s memes is a leading indicator of its overall quality.
The fact that we don’t have reflexive LOL here raises the casual reader’s impression of our average IQ by a solid 15-20 points. Much more than all that talk about Sartre, which just makes people’s eyes glaze over.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Going back to the theme of the original post, this thread is totally going to make us win, tonight.

Just wanted to point out on cleveland.com one poster writes:
It isn’t too late yet. Fire Wedge on tomorrow’s off day. If Farrell won’t leave Boston this year, use Lovullo or Skinner to finish off the year. It sure seems to have helped Colorado.
hahaha I mastered the quote boxes.
