For a series of movies that have the exact same plot every time, The Final Destination looks pretty good.

If it helps my case, I’ve never seen a Saw movie and don’t plan to. Although Meagan Good was in one, that made me consider it for a second.

It was so depressing to watch previews before The Hangover. Crap movies like this, (some other horror flick) and 2012 (which looks like another steaming pile of turd).
At least The Hangover turned out to be one of the best comedies of the year.
Yeah, what audience exactly were they going for?

Valbuena has been hitting the nail on the head for the last month now…they’ve just been going right at fielders….maybe they’ll start falling now. That was one heck of a shot.
I love Valbuena!!!! Good kid, good attitude, good player. I’m thinking we stole another middle infielding stud from Seattle!!!

Alright, I admit, it might have been a bit extreme use of caps…but seriously, I’m a former college pitcher (mostly used out of the bullpen), its not that hard to throw strikes. I never made it beyond college because I threw all offspeed and gave up a bunch of singles….but I much rather have bullpen guys come in and get hit than not throw strikes and walk in runs continuously.

I go back and forth on this. They’re very different to me. Both smell horrible. Wrigley is comfy and relaxed. Like a big BBQ, with some obnoxious folks. Fenway is expensive and uncomfortable. Games in Wrigley are chill, games in Fenway feel like BIG games.
Again, both are historic, but in my mind, the Cubs history is Wednesday afternoon games with no pennant race; Boston history is Bucky Dent or Ted Williams.
chris berman is unlistenable. i mean, an absolutely reprehensible broadcaster, but especially when it comes to golf.
by DontCallMeJoey on Jun 19, 2009 5:13 PM EDT up reply actions
Yep – when I first turned it on yesterday and saw he was doing the open, I was really upset. Not upset enough to not watch it, but very close. That was a really awful selection by ESPN. Give me Scott van Pelt 400 times before you give me Chris Berman. Give me anybody before you give me Chris Berman, for any sport.
by jakesinger777 on Jun 19, 2009 5:14 PM EDT up reply actions
i’m concerned that he actually is. and what concerns me more is that espn continues to force him upon an increasingly head-shaking sports-watching public.
by DontCallMeJoey on Jun 19, 2009 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions
Like his nicknames for NFL players. Do people find those funny? It just confuses me. Most of ESPN’s people. Stuart Scott? Trey Wingo? People like them?
And if you look beyond that, he just doesn’t seem to take a very intelligent approach to what he does. And, as if it matters, I think he is known to be a huge a-hole.

Some of their newer people (many of whom I’d struggle to name) are less unbearable. Also, I really like Scott van Pelt.

I think so. Not all, but many of my friends to whom I’ve expressed my dislike for Berman have disagreed. I think people consider him to be some sort of classic, broadcasting legend. I think he’s horrific.
He’s announcing this golf tournament the same way he announces football, which is not a very good approach, in my opinion. I am pretty sure it’s a different viewership.

Slightly OT…
I’m watching the game on my iPod Touch. Scouting report…
No choice of announcers, though Len Kasper and Bob Brenly are very good.
Picture quality isn’t great — about like MLB.TV in standard mode.
Occasionally can’t keep up, but usually OK.
Crude DVR functionality — back up 30 sec., then go forward.
It checks your location to determine blackouts.
You must download ($9.99) the updated iPod OS first.

There’s also some people on Castro’s blog that are furious Barfield isn’t starting every day. HIS AVERAGE IS HIGH!
I’m okay with Barf playing, he has put up good at bats this year…I’d be all for him playing second and Valb at SS. Put Carrol at third and ship bad attitude Jhonny P. so the pirates or anybody that might have a decent reliever or starter.
by MooneysRebellion on Jun 19, 2009 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions
Barfield shouldn’t sniff the field unless he is pinch running or replacing a number of injured players
Until I have reason to believe otherwise, Smith wasn’t healthy going into the year. He’s been much better since returning from the DL. And we need a bullpen arm much, much more than an OF.

I’ll clarify: I don’t think this is a CC Sabathia case of “only in my dreams”. I don’t think that I would want Cliff on the team in 2011, obviously with the contract considered. He’s turning 32 next year and somebody will probably offer him a 4 year deal.

I just realized something — Wedge didn’t want to use Wood because the pitcher is due up in the 9th. So he was willing to give up more runs in hope he could PH, when most of our bench is hitting .200.
