Let's Go Tribe On Metsblog.com, Talking DeRosa
I mostly just want to thank Ryan for this answer:
"Matthew Cerrone: Without looking at stats, from your gut, do you feel like he hits well in the clutch, with runners in scoring position, key spots, etc.?
Ryan Richards: From what I recall, he’s done well with runners in scoring position this season. I would imagine his ‘clutch’ splits mirror his overall line pretty closely."
...but what about your gut?

My gut says that DeRosa’s a good clutch hitter, and is worth outbidding at least four other teams for. Either that, or it’s a little queasy from the potato salad.
My only critique of DeRosa is that he is a free swinger. If he sees a pitch he likes, he is going to swing at it regardless of the situation. Also, if the pitcher gets ahead of him, he’s not the kind of guy that is going to work the count full. He’s going to strikeout or get weak contact on the ball.
It’s not annoying when he is producing, but when he struggles it’s a big letdown.
