Jason Kipnis: the Trevor Crowe that never was.

That’s what my initial impression is as well.

My aggravation with Crowe would be a lot less had we taken him with the 63rd pick rather than the 14th.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

How do you feel Kipnis compares to Crowe based on what you’ve read so far?

Crowe with better eyeballs?

Shin-Soo Choo, future U.S. Citizen.

Crowe definitely seems like an overdraft – as I recall, Ellsbury, who Crowe was compared to at one time, was taken afterwards, yet is a considerably better player (mostly because he can play CF at a high level) and he gets on base consistently (and essentially annoys the crap out of the opposing team). Additionally, unlike Crowe, Ellsbury was consistent throughout his Minor League performance, whereas Crowe has been hot-and-cold. Those types of performances in the Minors rarely add up to a useful ML player, let alone a starter.

I can certainly see why that would be aggravating – I too am not thrilled with Crowe’s development.

The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.

Gotta say I like how Santana shows up as the #5 overall prospect on the sidebar there
