To clarify, I knew something was up with him not in the lineup, Hammy confirmed it — adding that he’s been on the phone for the past hour.

Honestly, I have no idea what the market for DeRosa should be. I really like Chris Perez if we are targeting a bullpen arm
by Roger Dorn on Jun 27, 2009 7:19 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
It’s not clear to me that acquiring young, service-controlled bullpen arms is inconsistent with getting better for the future. I mean, DeRosa’s not CC—maybe that’s his market.

I think there are more teams in on DeRosa, and he’s cheaper, so the market may be almost as good.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I’ll just profess complete ignorance on this one.

For the record I predict no trade in the immediate future
by world dictator on Jun 27, 2009 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions
I’ll predict Cubs, but not for Gameboard.
After the blowup between Lou and Gameboard and Gameboard’s admission that he feels that he’s “on an island” in the clubhouse, Jim Hendry may realize that he needs DeRo back as much for his clubhouse presence as for his bat.
"I've never complained about it. I'm thankful to have a jersey." Mark DeRosa, 22 Aug 2007
If that’s the HBP rule, how are we supposed to score?

Well they usually don’t care but that was really blatant and ridiculous. That’s worse than anything Shoppach and Garko have ever done. I also think the ump was ticked at Brandon for saying the other one hit him.

I know some of you will be mad at me but I just saw Transformers 2. It wasn’t NEARLY as bad everyone said it was going to be. It was a little cheesy at times but pretty enjoyable.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
It’s not on my list for the summer, but I have no problem with going to see cheesy action movies for pure entertainment value.
Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile
by Manhattan Tribe Fan on Jun 27, 2009 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions
I like cheesy action too. I defended Jason Statham in a previous game thread. But Transformers…maybe I’m just jaded and set against anything a lot of people like. But mainstream, completely ridiculous (moreso than anything Statham has done), no story, waste of a budget, too long…And it makes a ton of money, even in the foreign box office. So despite the fact it requires a ton of money to back, it’ll still make a great profit. This in turn will continue the production of the same type of crap. The same reason I was disappointed with the odd success of Paul Blart. I like Kevin James, but when a movie like that makes that much of a profit, the industry will churn out as many of the same movie as they can.
In short, any ticket seeing Transformers feeds the beast that kills good dramas, small comedies, etc.
I really have no idea who Jason Statham is. I’m pretty mainstream. I’m sorry. I can’t help it.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
Most of my friends are, so it’s not something I can hold against you or anyone else individually. But like Year One. Who does that look funny to? Did you see it?
I don’t think that looks funny. I probably won’t see it. If there was nothing else remotely interesting in theaters I might see it since when you are under 21 in St. Louis there is nothing to do but go shopping. see movies, and go bowling. I hate bowling, shopping ends being a very expensive outing for me, so I’m left with movies.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
Public Enemies is the movie I most want to see this summer. Followed by the Pelham 123 remake.

This is a pretty compelling argument, but I can’t find it in myself to actively boycott movies. I don’t want to see either Transformers movie but Bad Boys II or Armageddon? I watch those every time they’re on TV. Bombasticity has an appeal that I won’t discount just because I also like Sergio Leone and Chris Nolan.
Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile
by Manhattan Tribe Fan on Jun 27, 2009 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions
Bad Boys II is one I loved at one point. Which isn’t to say I don’t or wouldn’t now, I just haven’t seen it in a long time. But that at least had an okay story, and was decently funny. Maybe it’s as simple as the difference between guns and robots.
Or Will Smith and Shia LeBeouf. I always like Smith, even if the movie itself isn’t any good.

That’s what my friends said. I just really don’t enjoy movies like this at all. This includes all comic book movies outside of Batman
Batman’s just good. I usually don’t like movies like this either but I liked the previews so I rented the first one because I hadn’t seen it so I felt obligated to see it. I like when the military people all talk to each other in their codes and at the same time. That’s my favorite part.

I’m still amazed we got Choo for Broussard. In fact I’m going to listen to the song of his I like, just as a thank you.
Actually, they just moved him from the rotation to the bullpen. His value is probably at its lowest right now. I wouldn’t object to him as a Zach Jackson add in in any way.

Cubs, Indians Discussed DeRosa
By Mike Axisa [June 27, 2009 at 8:56am CST]
According to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun-Times, the Cubs had conversations with the Indians earlier this month about reacquiring jack-of-all-trades guy Mark DeRosa. Wittenmyer says any potential move to bring DeRosa back to the north side depends “on the asking price and ownership’s willingness to take on about $2 million in salary.” Aramis Ramirez could come off the disabled list before the All-Star break, and his performance would also be a factor in any potential move. Jayson Stark reported that the Cubbies were considering making a move for DeRosa earlier this week
