Dick Jacobs Passes Away
I know there was a lot of bad talk and hard feelings when Jacobs sold the team at the beginning of the decade, but he certainly played an important role in the resurgence of the Indians and the success we saw in the '90s. Thoughts are with his family.

Who bad-mouther Dick Jacobs when he sold the team? It was a brilliant business move.

True – he knew when to buy and when to sell.
Plus I made a profit when he sold. Thanks for that, too.

Here’s Pluto’s column on Jacobs’ passing, and includes some of the criticisms some people had when he sold the team. I’m in almost total agreement with Pluto’s column, and it’s hard to imagine the Indians being the team we love today (despite this being a miserable season thus far) without his influence, and it’s not hard to imagine Cleveland without a team, either.

RIP Dick.
We're really bad this year. How's that for a signature?

Rest in peace old man and thank you for building my intrest in baseball as well as saving the tribe and getting us the Jake. I still kind of wish the jacobs still owned the tribe.

I will always remember the man most responsible for making me the Indians fan I am today. Rest in peace, old friend.
