Nyjer Morgan is a Valuable Asset...
Interesting piece by Dave Cameron, linked to by Rob Neyer. Neyer sort of counterbalances Cameron's enthusiasm but an interesting read from both sides, especially given some recent discussions about the value of defense on this site.

The Cameron article on the Pirates-Nats trade completely ignores both the age difference between Milledge and Morgan, and also neglects to mention the bullpen pitchers that were swapped.
I was a little annoyed when the DeRosa trade was treated solely as Perez for DeRosa, not mentioning that the PTBNL could be valuable.
I think that a lot of people are having a hard time adjusting to the Mark Shapiro PTBNL (we’re getting another significant prospect, but for various reasons we’re still deciding which one it will be), as opposed to the Regular PTBNL (we’ll throw in some piece of crap eventually, who will be so minimal nobody will even remember what trade the dude is completing).
