This is really the most exciting time to be a Tribe fan.
I was talking to my Jays fan buddy the other day, who’s a reasonably bright guy, and I couldn’t believe that the Jays aren’t even shopping Marco Scutaro, a UFA after this year who’s having the season of his career right now. the number 9 prospect in a good system. He’s a good lefty. He altered his delivery at the end of his last year at St. Johns and that helped him improve his velocity. He throws low 90’s with good sink. Has decent secondary pitches. After being drafted in the 8th round last year, he moved quickly to the Sally and dominated the competition. He’s been quite good in the Cal League this year, averaging a strikeout per inning. He turns 22 in September. You guys should be happy about what you’re getting.

Wait does he throw in the low 90’s or the 92-93 range like the espn article says? I generally consider the low 90’s 90-91

The #5 first baseman in an ok system. He’s a mediocre righty. He pretty hasn’t changed a damned thing since he graduated from Stanford. He throws poorly with bad stink. Gets hit with pitches. After being drafted in the 3rd round in 2003, he’s moved slowly. All the time. He’s been mediocre in the American League this year, averaging an awkward defensive play per inning. He turns 29 in January. You guys should be happy about what you’re getting.

Well this is good news at least
Tim Brown and Gordon Edes of Yahoo! Sports report that the Angels have “shifted their emphasis” to Cliff Lee after being frustrated in their pursuit of Roy Halladay. The Halos do not want to part with Joe Saunders, Erick Aybar, Brandon Wood, and another prospect for a single pitcher, even one as great as Halladay, and they believe they can land Lee with a lesser package.

I don’t like all these “lesser package” references to Lee.
Lee is not that far below Halladay. Hold em hostage Shapiro!
by FallsTribeFan on Jul 27, 2009 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions
Well, to be fair, lesser package means they may only have to give up 2 of their top 5 prospects instead of 3.
Hold out for 3.
Like it or not, Lee is a Top 10 starter.
Teams should have to pay for him like they’ll pay for Halladay.
by FallsTribeFan on Jul 27, 2009 10:42 PM EDT up reply actions
