Application of Pitch/FX
Brian Bannister, by all measures, does not really have "stuff." He does have the internet. This is a great read about a pitcher using Pitch/FX to go from "a 5.70 guy to a 3.70 guy."

I remember when my kids played “Fast-you!-oh” … I spent a fortune on those cards!

The “READ THIS ____” meme doesn’t work unless you spell the name wrong.

Then we should get it out of the headline.
We really are coming dangerously close to coming off as a site full of morons with some of these memes.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Also! (does that one make me look like a moron?) The original comment spelled the name right. Then again, it included the exclamation point, so maybe we need a ruling from the judges.

It’s not the memes that make the site or discussion within great. But I still really like that meme.

I fixed it, just couldn’t stand it anymore. Also deleted the incorrect exclamation point.

Hey what gives?! I mean, if you’re going to change the title from my formerly AWESOME, let’s make it something that makes sense. How about “Real application of Pitch/FX”

I am cracking down on myself, for letting the site standards slip during a season with a lot of new users joining. It may seem strange, but I actually feel that I owe everyone an apology for letting it slide this long. Fortunately, we have had a gaggle of new users who are really sharp, too, so the overall quality here has remained pretty good. We just have too much stupidity-clutter to trek through, and it’s been building up over the last few months. Time to start weeding.

Or, since it’s on computers: “time to de-Gauss”?

I’m fine with it. Just joking really. Unless I’m going to be weeded out. That would be sad.

It would probably appear to be ageism, so you and Chuck are likely safe.

This is going to be like the NYU thing isn’t it? My application essay is going to be all about Kenny Lofton not going home in Game 7 and wasted opportunites.

I had a toothpick in my mouth most of today, ala Scott Hall (my childhood) or John Cusack in 1408. Just helping.

Perhaps it would be easier to tighten our belts if we knew what standards you think are slipping? I assume its more than the use of idiot stats, no?

No, it really is mostly idiot stats, or the slow creeping in of persistent whining that clearly is based on idiot stats. If I was on your case, you’d already know it.
There is so much still to discuss. Our experience is that when our best contributors have to wade through too much stupid stuff, they stay away and contribute less. So reducing the stupid stuff has a doubly positive effect, in that it indirectly generates more good stuff as well.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Ah that makes sense. I just wanted to clarify. I didn’t think you were getting on anyone’s case. I just figured the more transparent your grievances the better people can police themselves. Thanks.

I mean, they rarely generate discussion ….

Love the research pieces. We don’t traffic in enough fact around here.

Bannister has always destroyed the Tribe with that cutter. No wonder he looked at the numbers and decided it was beneficial to throw it as his main pitch.
