View From the Booth: Carmona to the Clippers
He's starting Sunday. Considering how far he fell, this is kind of amazing to follow.

I’m really trying to limit my optimism, but the way I want to look at it is: They had a long term reinvention plan for him, but the only way they could have moved him up this quickly is if they were able to find, and correct, his flaw easily. This would spell his increase in control. Of course it could also be A and AA hitters expanding their zones against a guy like Fausto. But until I have reason to believe otherwise, I’m excited. There isn’t much left.
I don’t see this as anything to be excited about. Fausto belonged in Triple-A the whole time, they just decided to send him on a little habit-breaking trip around to the other clubs first. Boost attendance, etc. This isn’t a “promotion” any more than Manny got promoted from Single-A to Triple-A during his PED suspension.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
If his mechanics were as seriously messed up as fwembt’s brother believed and as seemingly suggested (though if they really were, I’d guess he’d have spent more time in the minors), wouldn’t a complete reboot make sense? I would guess (and hope) that being in Arizona was better for rebuilding his entire delivery, where being in Columbus would be better to just make some final minor adjustments.
I just find it fascinating considering how far they dropped him. I agree that he should have been in Columbus really early on, and yet they bi-passed that move all together. It’s just strange that he was sent to rookie ball if he was able to fly back up to AAA this fast.
I would be shocked (shocked!) if he dominates in AAA the way he has so far.
Still, it’s all very weird.

Again, I think it’s relevant that there will be guys at this level who have faced Fausto in the majors and have familiarity with not only his sinker, but his general pattern of attack as well.

Three for Toledo—Clete Thomas with 7 PA’s, Jeff Larish with 6, and Dane Sardinha with 3. Not exactly the equivalent of Granderson or Inge, but obviously more experience there than with the Bowie BaySox.
