Game 82: Indians 5, Athletics 2
Carl Pavano got out of a difficult first inning, then settled down to throw 6.2 solid innings. The bullpen got out of a jam in the seventh, then breezed through the last two innings. This isn't normally how a Cleveland Indians game plays out.
The bottom of the order, and especially Ben Francisco and Luis Valbuena, had a great night. Francisco and Valbuena both went 3-for-3, setting up most of the Indian runs tonight.

| Highest WPA | Lowest WPA | ||
| Ben Francisco | .182 | Travis Hafner | -.108 |
| Carl Pavano | .162 | Victor Martinez | -.068 |
| Luis Valbuena | .144 | Asdrubal Cabrera | -.066 |

I love it when Ben makes himself look like a decent OF and increases his trade value.
I just wanted to believe.
Anyone catch Baseball Tonight last night? I was watching for Tribe highlights, had missed both games, and Fernando Vina’s comment during Ben Fran’s homerun sent water through my nose. It was something close to the effect of, “This kid’s going to be some kind of player; hits for a lot of power and plays a great outfield.”
Fernando’s head still hasn’t cleared since Belle ran into him a decade ago.
Il faut d'abord durer.
1. Great game and pretty impressive fireworks show, too.
2. By some amazing cosmic fluke of random chance, Salome got to meet Carl Pavano’s infant child (and girlfriend) while we were standing in line for a waffle cone. Said girlfriend introduced herself by commenting on Salome’s Pavano shirt and then snapping a pic with her cellphone. As you all would expect, Salome was over the moon afterward. Girls.
3. CHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
4. Kerry Wood was good. Valbuena was bueno. No Newperez, sadly.
5. Made the horrible mistake of heading north on E 9th instead of our usual route and we wound up stuck in traffic until about 11:00 … but the rest of the night was well worth it.

I can’t believe that shirt paid off.
Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

Which makes their record without you …
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Just thought I’d point out that we are now 1-0 for second half of the season. In fact I hereby decree that the first half of the season is null and void. It didn’t happen. It was just a long spring training that was needed for Wedge to properly motivate the team, get his facial hair just right, and build his bullpen. These things take time.
1-0 and we’re in first place.
If you believe it's just a game, you're also probably wondering why Santa keeps skipping your house every year.
