Hey cool. Not only does SBNation want me to buy discount Mets jerseys, but it wants me to make my own electricity, too.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
Did you say to Carl’s GF “Carl is my avatar on an indians blog”?
Proud Fan of the Worst Baseball Team I've Ever Seen
No, thankfully. I have a tendency to say silly things like that when taken by surprise.
I did say “I’ve read Carl’s bio on indians.com. So this is Anthony?” referring to their baby. I’m glad she didn’t take that comment as stalkerish.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
Heh, I don’t think any male fans would even remember the baby’s name.

She seemed surprised and pleased that someone was a fan. It was kind of funny that she wanted my picture.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
“Francisco with runners at first and third with one out.”
Are there ten worse words in the English language?
Il faut d'abord durer.
Yep, that is definitely the kind of hitter we need on this team.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I was talking about Ben, but sure, go ahead and dump on Jhonny. At least he actually deserves it at this point.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

This is Jhonny’s age 27 season—he’s supposed to be a down-ballot MVP candidate. He does look more athletic at 3B, but, anecdotally (I’m making up words), he gets caught playing deep on the bunt attempts.
He’s still affordable for next year ($4.6M), and the Indians have a $7M 2011 option. They’ve gotten their money’s worth out of this contract. And he’s really the only realistic in-house option at 3B for next season. That’s not a bad thing, but I can see them fielding offers for the right pitcher.
His brother Justin Upton, is known to have a nice arm. I was unaware that B.J. was in this conversation.
I’m not doubting, I guess I just hadn’t heard that it was. (This was part of the text poll in case you’re not watching). And is Vlad’s arm still great? I thought it had faded a bit over the last two years. Or many I’m just confused with this Moses-like legs.

Also, Granderson over Choo. With Torri Hunter in reserve for CF, I’m gonna go with “wrong” on that one.
Josh Hamilton is the biggest “The Masses are Morons” selection I see at first glance.
Il faut d'abord durer.
Yea, Granderson was voted on by players and coaches.
Hamilton is a fan vote. Nobody really cared to see that he’s done nothing this year.
I’m all for the guy turning his life around. But I’m amused always at the lack of trophies and cookies for people who are never dumb enough to do that in the first place.
I think that, given the amount of people, from all walks of life, in this country and in the world that DO have drug problems, it’d be better just to thank God or fate or whatever if you’ve been blessed enough not to ever go down that road than assume every single person with a drug problem in their past is stupid.
Not trying to sound sanctimonious or pretentious, just how I feel about it.
Josh Hamilton shouldn’t be in the All-Star Game because he’s hurt and his stats were pedestrian while he wasn’t this year, not because everyone is sick of the media’s overkill of his personal story.
Il faut d'abord durer.
You’re right, I think the point was that people have overcome worse things in their life that weren’t induced willingly upon themselves. It was a bit harsh, yes, but we all know that if a big deal hadn’t been made of his situation he wouldn’t be voted there this year, like Grady wasn’t.
Shin-Soo Choo, future U.S. Citizen.
His Home Run Derby performance from last year had way more to do with it than the overblown recovery story.
Il faut d'abord durer.
It’s no disrespect. I’ve been fortunate not to have to face that in my life, in part because I’ve had a great support system my entire life.
But my BIGGEST pet peeve is people not realizing how much control they have over their own lives. I drink the Shapiro corporate babble: it’s accountability. I give Josh Hamilton credit. I’m glad he’s doing okay.
But people can’t separate his play from his personal life? If the All-Star is about good stories, Jhonny Mac would be in his 10th mid-summer classic.
A 30 pitch inning. Not good. Lee’s at 93 pitches now.
If you believe it's just a game, you're also probably wondering why Santa keeps skipping your house every year.
For one, he lacks foot speed to leg out any infield hits. But he’s been at .333, .322, and .306 the last three years.
This year, in particular, his line drive rate is way down (career 18.1%, this year at just below 13) and his groundballs are up to 45%. Insert lack of speed. Hence, the .268 BABIP.
Interesting. Wouldn’t more groundballs and fewer line drives imply less power? From the looks of things his power numbers have improved across the board this year.

Only 5 Monday games left this season.
Not that I was looking at going to a ton of games this season, but with Sunday and Monday as my open days, that reduces my options a tad.

What happened? Gameday is locked up
If you believe it's just a game, you're also probably wondering why Santa keeps skipping your house every year.
They had someone picked off at first and got them in a rundown. Then they got the runner at 3rd in a rundown and finally tagged him out.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
Heh. One of my best online friends is a lifelong Yankees fan (not a jackass, thank God), and he is not enjoying life this afternoon.

Amusing listening this inning:
“Giminez will face Weurtz.”
“The league is hitting .198 off Weurtz.”
“(He) backs away from Weurtz.”

On a similar tip, there was a guy hawking treats near our section last night who was yelling “TWO DOLLAR POPSICLES!!” in a fashion that sounded just like “CHEWED-UP POPSICLES!!” I suspect he didn’t sell very many.

Oh, I wanted to tell you that I’ve been pretty sick this week, and my doctor thought it might be mono. I’m not sure it is, but that makes me the latest in a long string of people who purportedly have mono with no clear idea of how they may have caught it.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
Mine was a sore throat virus that apparently affected everything else too.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
I think this is what mine is, because I was feeling better Friday and yesterday. If I had mono, I wouldn’t be feeling better for a few weeks.
I believe in Carl Pavano.
Yeah mine got better and then worse again so that was confusing. It was also in the middle of our consecutive 100 degree days earlier so I don’t think the excessive heat helped.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
This is probably total BS, but it’s hard not to feel like some of the fight has gone out of Cliff Lee at this point.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
I might agree, but didn’t he have some kind of episode in the dugout last week?
--
Force quit and move to trash.
I imagine Cliff having a mini tantrum in the dugout right now, while Carl is going around to everybody with a cell phone saying “Dude, check it out, this chick was wearing my shirt yesterday!”
I believe in Carl Pavano.
I don’t know.
I’m not saying he’s just mad, I’m saying it’s starting to show in the box scores.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I’m not saying all of the fight, but just some of it. I know I would find it awfully hard to be motivated at this point.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Well, they’ve got one inning left this season.

Does anyone know where/if I can buy either a script I or a Chief Wahoo embroidered patch, like for the front of a hat?
Did Wedge change the lineup on purpose? They had the same lineup for two games and they freaking won them, then he changed it and they lose???
Yes, Wedge hates winning 3 in a row and will do anything to avoid doing so.
