Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Just wondering how much this will affect our PTBNL. Sorry if someone else posted this already. Is this also the same injury that Adam Miller has? Just wondering what peoples thoughts were.

All indications so far have been that the PTBNL is from a pre-determined and agreed upon list … and neither DeRosa’s injury nor their playoff performance should matter much.

If you believe the rumors … Jess Todd is one of those names (and my favorite) … and Francisco Samuel is one of the others.

which probably means Shapiro won’t want him

by Roger Dorn on Jul 8, 2009 1:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, Samuel seems to have some control issues as well … so I’m sure he’s the guy they end up with.

I’m holding out for Pujols!

Oh, and the answer to #2 is “we wish.”

ok so DeRosa tore the sheath and Miller tore the pulleys under the sheath … who knew you had to be a doctor to be an Indians fan haha .. oye

by jsneides on Jul 8, 2009 1:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Rickie Weeks has the same injury as DeRosa, I think, but he’s expected to miss the rest of the season.

by jds16 on Jul 8, 2009 1:49 PM EDT reply actions

i feel bad for just asking about the PTBNL … i really hope DeRosa is ok and continues to do well. Truth be told from what I’ve seen of Kerry Wood … I think he was the best FA we got in the off season.

by jsneides on Jul 8, 2009 1:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Also, DeRosa was not a free agent.

by FredOx on Jul 8, 2009 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions

my apologies for my mistake

by jsneides on Jul 8, 2009 3:43 PM EDT up reply actions

DeRosa was not a FA signing. We traded three of our minor league pitchers (Stevens, Gaub, Archer) for him. He will be a FA this offseason.

by jhon on Jul 8, 2009 2:33 PM EDT up reply actions

can anyone confirm whether derosa was a free agent signing?

by Brick. on Jul 8, 2009 2:58 PM EDT up reply actions

DeRosa will be a free agent signing for someone this offseason. Hopefully this clarifies everything

by Roger Dorn on Jul 8, 2009 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions

DeRo may not be a free agent, but my sources tell me he is a secret agent.

I had no idea that Ryan wears glasses.

Yes. By the Cubs, three years ago.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Jul 8, 2009 3:32 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m more concerned with whether or not Bartolo Colon has been seen recently.

Shall we turn this into a Where’s Waldo search?

by talonk on Jul 8, 2009 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions

A common beef among Cardinals fans is that the medical staff is overly optimistic. Thus, I wouldn’t assume DeRo is back around the ASB.

by FredOx on Jul 8, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions

This is why you don’t always wait until the deadline to trade a player. He could just as easily have been hurt playing for the Indians

by Roger Dorn on Jul 8, 2009 1:59 PM EDT reply actions

Bye bye Lee and Victor

by world dictator on Jul 8, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

One more reason, yes.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Jul 8, 2009 3:32 PM EDT up reply actions

No reason to think that DeRosa’s injury has any effect on our PTBN. It wasn’t a pre-existing injury, and even if it were, generally the trade terms would not get reworked unless there was reason to believe the Indians withheld information. Nobody is talking about anything like that, so it’s very safe to assume that the trade stands as negotiated, and we’ll be getting back a "significant’ and advanced prospect.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Jul 8, 2009 3:34 PM EDT reply actions

This happened a few years ago with esteban loaiza during the …was it blue jays and white sox trade, right? The White Sox acquired him then it turns out he was hurt. MLB said “tough luck, buyer beware”.

by world dictator on Jul 8, 2009 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Are you thinking of Mike Sirotka?

by cheech99 on Jul 8, 2009 10:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, that was what I thought too.

Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

by Manhattan Tribe Fan on Jul 9, 2009 12:09 AM EDT up reply actions

Right. And that was a pre-existing injury, but neither team knew about it.

Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

by Jay on Jul 8, 2009 11:16 PM EDT up reply actions

As I remember, there was some disagreement. The Jays thought Kenny knew about it. I figured nobody would trade with Williams again, but I was wrong.

by odradek on Jul 9, 2009 12:26 AM EDT up reply actions

Well the White Sox knew about the injury because they had been treating Sirotka before he was traded.

And believe it or not, Chicago sent another injured pitcher to the Blue Jays in that trade.
