DeRosa Trade PTBNL
Just wondering how much this will affect our PTBNL. Sorry if someone else posted this already. Is this also the same injury that Adam Miller has? Just wondering what peoples thoughts were.

All indications so far have been that the PTBNL is from a pre-determined and agreed upon list … and neither DeRosa’s injury nor their playoff performance should matter much.
If you believe the rumors … Jess Todd is one of those names (and my favorite) … and Francisco Samuel is one of the others.
With 9 walks to 50 strikeouts, Jess Todd would never fit into this bullpen. He’d be like the hat-wearing character in a John Hughes movie.

Yeah, Samuel seems to have some control issues as well … so I’m sure he’s the guy they end up with.
I’m holding out for Pujols!

Rickie Weeks has the same injury as DeRosa, I think, but he’s expected to miss the rest of the season.
i feel bad for just asking about the PTBNL … i really hope DeRosa is ok and continues to do well. Truth be told from what I’ve seen of Kerry Wood … I think he was the best FA we got in the off season.
Yes. By the Cubs, three years ago.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

This is why you don’t always wait until the deadline to trade a player. He could just as easily have been hurt playing for the Indians
One more reason, yes.

No reason to think that DeRosa’s injury has any effect on our PTBN. It wasn’t a pre-existing injury, and even if it were, generally the trade terms would not get reworked unless there was reason to believe the Indians withheld information. Nobody is talking about anything like that, so it’s very safe to assume that the trade stands as negotiated, and we’ll be getting back a "significant’ and advanced prospect.

This happened a few years ago with esteban loaiza during the …was it blue jays and white sox trade, right? The White Sox acquired him then it turns out he was hurt. MLB said “tough luck, buyer beware”.

Yeah, that was what I thought too.
Though I look right at home, I still feel like an exile

Right. And that was a pre-existing injury, but neither team knew about it.

Well the White Sox knew about the injury because they had been treating Sirotka before he was traded.
And believe it or not, Chicago sent another injured pitcher to the Blue Jays in that trade.
