2009 Amateur Draft Update
If one waded through my long research post, you could have determined mostly how the 2009 draft picks have been signed/assigned into the system. This post is just concentrated on that draft only. [Data from Baseball America's page]
- Alex White - unsigned (but I recall he is supposed to sign late so he doesn't play this year)
- Jason Kipnis - same as Alex White
- Joe Gardner - signed but not assigned to a Tribe roster yet

- Chris Kersten - Arizona Rookie League
- Westley Moss - unsigned; have fun storming the castle!!
- Chris Beck - unsigned

- Max Muncy - unsigned
- Jonathon Kountis - unsigned

- Jose Madrid - unsigned
- James Jones - unsigned; Gatorade only please
- Scott Sommerfield - unsigned
- Christian Powell - unsigned
- Vidal Nuno - Mahoning Valley (A-)
- Burch Smith - unsigned
- Tyler Joyner - unsigned
Only 39 days left to sign left. If the Top 2 picks sign (expected), that would get us 26 of the 50 signed which is around normal. Other possibilities to sign are Rowland, Campbell, Packer, Moss, Evans, Sabo, Hernandez, Kountis, and Gentile as they are 4 year college students (but I have no idea if they are all seniors, most likely not)
Kelly, Sarianides, Carrillo, Jones, and Burch Smith were all JC/CC kids and Hamann, Hauser, Bryson Smith, Beck, Ewing, Muncy, Madrid, Sommerfield, Powell, and Joyner were all high school kids so I don't expect any late signings from them.

IIRC Hamann is committed to Toledo. Already reaches mid-90’s, so I guess that’s good. I would have liked to see the Indians steal him for none other than an irrational rooting instinct for a local boy.

I know you wrote this about a week ago, but only about 2 days ago did BA acknowledge that Sarianides had signed with us, even though Lastoria (I think) acknowledged that we signed Sarianides at around the same time as we did Hubbard and Sturdevant, which was at least 10-14 days ago (may have even been around 3 weeks ago).
Sometimes, BA doesn’t update their records or doesn’t officially hear our signings as quickly as Lastoria hears and reports on them. This has happened in past drafts as well – your best bet for the most up-to-date draft signings would be to follow Lastoria and the guys at TCF (and, of course, LGT :-).
Therefore, along with Kipnis, we’ve signed 26/50, so, assuming we do sign White, that would be 27. It’s possible that a few of those other names you mentioned could also sign late, so we might be pushing 30 this season, or about 60%, which is higher than in recent seasons, whereas we’ve been around 50% or so.
Just my 2 cents.
The "cream of the crop" doesn't always rise to the top.
