Me too. Something like Hafner hit it a mile, but the cameras never picked up on it, even though they were on him the whole time.

Why’s it mechanistic. This is actually not where you’d think he’d use his closer.

I have no problem with using Wood here.
My only question remains from last night… if they win in the bottom of this inning, does he get a “game finished”? I would think not.
I wasn’t complaining about using him, just responding to xrickx.

I just had to jump back into the game thread to report this:
I’ve been dating this girl for about 6 months now. She’s pretty cool. Not as into the Indians as I am, but I don’t know too many people that are. She’s in Boston right now, and I just got this text:
“Just saw Fenway. Spit on the wall for you.”
So… marry her?

I had such high hopes for him. I look and see a 3.83 ERA and a strikeout per inning and think, “Ok, I wish our whole bullpen could be there.”
But I’m just never comfortable with him.
i guess I just expect him to come in and induce an immediate double play, every time, even if no one is on base

I’m upset that we got about 10 arms over the last week in the system, got 3 innings from a reliever tonight, are 17 games under .500 and we still have to watch Jose Veras pitch in tough spots.

Veteran pitcher can’t step off the mound. Veteran infielder can’t freeze on the basepath when a ball is hit on a linedrive.
It’s he little things.
Are you guys still taking these losses hard?

Maybe I’m a poor fan but I’ve developed an indifference to this season. I want to see players progress and Wedge gone by the end of the season.
Case of the beet bandit. Missing beets from all over the farm, no footprints. Inside job. Mose in socks. Boom. Case closed. -Dwight Schrute
I want to see players progress and Wedge gone too. But wins and losses are still what it is all about. I am happier after every win and sadder after every loss. Maybe its just me, but I’d rather be in 3rd place than 4th. I was thrilled that we ended the year .500 last year instead of 80-82. I don’t want to be near last place and I don’t want 100 losses to be in the discussion.
If this were the middle of a good season, I’d say, “Tough loss. Oh well.”
But this season just makes every damned setback feel like salt in the wound.
Really? This would be much worse in a good season, for me. I mean, unless it were a total runaway season, but when does that happen?
by Logodaedalus on Aug 1, 2009 10:34 PM EDT up reply actions
I’m the other way. If it were an overall good season, I could shrug off the occasional irritating loss.
Well, okay, the worst thing is the irritating loss when what was supposed to be a good season is in the process of going down the tubes. If it’s firmly at the bottom of the tubes though, I’m much more focused on individual progress.
