Barnes the sleeper of the 2009 torrent of trades?
Maybe many of you have already read this from Tony Lastoria, but I found it very interesting.
I think Barnes may be the sleeper of the 2009 trade tornado. He has a very Cliff Lee-esque pitching style (pounding the zone with the fastball with 90-92 mph speed), and is only 21.
Also, with this kind of quote, the average Cleveland fan is bound to love this guy,
"... told me I got traded and it was for Ryan Garko, which obviously was an honor as a 21-year old minor leaguer [to be traded for him]."

I thought his prediction was that either Marte or Brown would get called up.

We’ve always done well in trades of overachieving platoon guys with misleading stats to the *L West, so you may be onto something.
Also! Someone should edit the link to this:

Yeah, when I click either link, it takes me to the same page….hmm, not sure.

The link in the post is to the main page of Tony’s site. This story is at the top now, but soon it won’t be. The other link is to the story, so it will work today, tomorrow, or theoretically, on the day Scott Barnes wins the AL Cy Young award. Unless I’m missing something.
Scott Barnes:
Just attack the zone and fill it up with strikes. I am pretty aggressive and like to work off my fastball. I try to go as deep into games as possible to put my team in the best position possible to win the game. I like to work fast and keep a good pace to the game so the guys behind me can keep their focus out there. Just throw a lot of strikes, go deep into games, and get that quick inning every time out there. Some guy who pitches for the Phillies:
Basically I try to keep things about as simple as possible. I want to put up as many zeroes as I can, get as deep in the game as I can, and just give the team a chance. That’s basically the best way I know to describe a starting pitcher. I feel like the best way to do that is be aggressive, throw strikes and don’t walk guys.
