So funny story about my trip to Taco Bell: I decided I would see if I could hear WTAM in Clemson. You can… sometimes. The other times you hear this awesome station about Indians from India living in South Carolina. I stuck around long enough to hear the Indian announcer say, “this one’s for you, (Indian name I couldn’t decipher through the static.” And then awesome Indian techno started playing.
Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?
WTAM is the biggest reason why I have XM. I’m not a big music guy, and I simply couldn’t listen to their on-air “talent” anymore.

That was the real Joe Buck. What you get now is a shell of his old self.

Okay: they put him out on the curb overnight, but the garbagemen wouldn’t pick him up. So they hauled him back and put him in the back yard.
Pretty much. And he didn’t even have a starting job in Columbus. In fact, a few folks around here were pretty belligerent about the idea that he shouldn’t have a starting job, because he might block Wes Hodges.
In Hodges’ defense, he has spent a lot of time hurt this year.

where was the 3-1 foul? behind the plate or down a line?

my memories of wickman include a lot of baserunners… entirely subjective of course… but i liked the big guy and his mangled digits
The eagle never lost so much time as when he submitted to learn from the crow
by gorilla_baller on Aug 27, 2009 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions
Selective memory. First half of 2005, he stranded a lot of guys. Outside of that, he was enormously successful as a closer and didn’t allow a huge number of baserunners.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Maybe the reason Wickman has such a reputation is because of the way he looked: an overweight bald guy sweating on the mound, a look of dyspepsia and agony. He looked like Haystacks Calhoun. If he had a handlebar mustache or a beetle-brow, people would think he was awesome. Wickman didn’t look the part.

He called Columbus “Columbo,” with a mix of fast talking/accent. Basically Crash Davis-etiquette post game talk. He knew he would get a pitch to hit because Grady was behind him.

Has anyone mentioned that Laffey has a weird habit of grabbing his crotch when someone hits a homer off of him?

Yes, but you can’t homer from the bench, and who really thought Capt. Doo-doo Head would play them every day?
Does anyone else find this picture mildly hilarious?
