Saw him Sunday in Columbus. He was very good (I think 4 Ks in 2 perfect IP). His fastball was merely 90-92, but his delivery has a little quirk to it to give him some deception. I think all his Ks came on his off speed pitch. Couldn’t tell if it was a change or a slider or a little of each, but it was nasty.

So he’s spent the last three years searching for a good NPR station?

Yeah, his fastball is somewhere between college radio and Christian rock.

I need a pitcher that don’t drive me crazy.
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Don’t look to close, you might get hurt.
Now is there really any evidence that closers get hurt more often than other relievers?

Goodbye Veras, I’ll never forget that one time you pitched two consecutive innings without giving up a run. ::wipes tear away::

I wondered if they thought about stretching him out. He did get two innings in Columbus when I was there Sunday. The Cardinals AAA team used him as their closer, but Greg Aquino has that role locked up for the Clippers.
“Locked up?”
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

OT: This led me to Castro’s twitter, of course. He follows 4 people: 3 Indians insiders and Bruce Springsteen.
Ha ha, this will be our year to pick up a hidden gem in the Rule 5 draft! We can sacrifice a spot on the 2010 roster.
And yes, I know about the recent rule changes. This is a chance to restore the genius label.
Aren’t you married?

What has happened to LGT? I leave for two weeks and you guys are convinced that Lee and Victor are (likely) to get traded.
Not happening. I’ll make an avatar bet with anyone about this.
His own fault.
Steel Nick
Take home message, never engage in an avatar bet with Nick when Mariah is on the line.

The good news is that we have a nice backlog of embarrassing avatars for anyone else that gets chippy.
Speaking of avatars, love the Jay Mariotti. How very appropriate that his mouth is wide open.
