He came up and in and I still think he did it on purpose, but it’s all good," Phillips said. "We don’t play them again (this year) but I’m gonna face him again. I mean I’m not trying to fight, I’m just trying to get him back for hitting me."
That name again?
"J.D. Martin," Phillips said. "You can look at my hat and his name is in there. I write names in my hat and remember who I need to get … Not fighting or nothing, but getting back at that dude. You give some hard look at ‘em, let ‘em know, let ‘em see your name. …
"It’s just a game. He did what he did to get me out of playing, and he did that. It’s just baseball, man."
The world according to Brandon Phillips, who may or may not recall that
Martin started one game as his teammate on the 2004 Buffalo Bisons.

I’m pretty confident that Eric Wedge is written in a lot of people’s hats.
I just wanted to believe.
His name is written in my underwear. Don’t ask.

is this a thinly veiled mike tyson reference?

The sports part of me says “Great. Go get em the next time you face him.” The real life part of me says “Man, Phillips is an idiot. This guys needs to shut up. No wonder we got rid of him.”

Nice tags, by the way.

Phillips is a punk, but he’s way slicker with the glove than Valbuena.
I want it. I've been grinding it out for awhile.
I’ll give you slicker, but not to any meaningful degree. Val is pretty good with the glove; he and Asdrubal up the middle are going to get to a lot of ground balls. I don’t think Phillips glove would be a significant upgrade over Val’s.
Everybody should get ice cream every day.
The rap on Phillips was that he had the slickness but not the consistency. Indians would make off-the-record comments about Peralta ultimately making more plays at shortstop, despite less range.

I remain impressed by Val’s campaign at shortstop this season. Kid looked pretty good out there.

I don’t know, the kids on my brothers coach pitch team managed it. Of course, that’s about the prime age for writing in one’s hat.
There’s an app for that?

You don’t need an app.

I keep all of you on a list, too.
