I’m excited. I, unfortunately have a meeting at 7 so I don’t know how much of the game I’ll see.

Who needs affection when you can have blind hatred?

Rank the defensive abilities of these corner outfielders: Choo, LaPorta, Brantley.

by dgcambridge on Sep 1, 2009 4:29 PM EDT reply actions

1.) Choo
2.) Brantley
3.) LaPorta

Is it even close to anything other than this?

by Ryan Kelsey on Sep 1, 2009 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions

We now know that LaPorta gets decent breaks, moves pretty well, and has enough arm for right, at least on a part-time basis. All I actually know about Brantley is that he can run.

by fleerdon on Sep 1, 2009 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Aside from the fact that he has a mortar attached to his shoulder, Choo actually is pretty average-bad at his routes and with his glove.

by joeee on Sep 1, 2009 4:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Sometimes I think so, but then Frank’s a tough act to follow defensively.

by fleerdon on Sep 1, 2009 4:42 PM EDT up reply actions

It seems the tools are there and he treats it as a position he’s still learning. I think Choo is still moving up.

Brantley’s defensive rep has been making a comeback. Columbus staff thinks he can be a good center fielder.

by Jay on Sep 1, 2009 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions

don’t call it a…eh.

by emil minty on Sep 1, 2009 5:28 PM EDT up reply actions

This will be the first time Valbuena, Marte, LaPorta and Brantley were in the lineup together since the May 1 Clippers-Bulls game. That featured the first Partay of the year, a grand slam.

by FredOx on Sep 1, 2009 4:32 PM EDT reply actions

This is Victor's home. Victor Jose, you too.

by westbrook on Sep 1, 2009 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions

The Future is kind of left-handed.

by fleerdon on Sep 1, 2009 4:43 PM EDT reply actions

It’s 4/4/1 in this lineup. Same if you sub in Hafner for Brantley. Going forward though, if Wegz and Chisenhall take over for Marte and Peralta – that is heavily leaning lineup. Of course, in that scenario, it makes a lot of sense to keep Marte around on the bench.

by dgcambridge on Sep 1, 2009 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Hey, left-handed worked for the Mets, right?

by fleerdon on Sep 1, 2009 4:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, it’s not a worry. And you know what helps? An awesome switch-hitting catcher.

by dgcambridge on Sep 1, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions

So Carroll’s still an Indian huh? Not sure I get it. I liked the penny-pinching FO better.

by supermarioelia on Sep 1, 2009 5:01 PM EDT reply actions

They were more predictable.

Steel Nick

by nickjs21 on Sep 1, 2009 5:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Wedge gave the Fo an ultimatum that he wasn’t coming back unless Carroll was here.

j/k (or am I?)

by Toxicadam on Sep 1, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions

so this was an FU to the FO?

by talonk on Sep 1, 2009 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions

“Well, okay, Eric, if that’s how you feel. We’ll just have to look at all of this after the season is over, if that is okay. We’ll just add Jamey to the list of things we will consider. We haven’t come to any conclusions, mind you.”

I’m going to have to DVR this game. What’s the LGT penalty for mentioned a fantasy football draft?

Steel Nick

by nickjs21 on Sep 1, 2009 5:07 PM EDT reply actions

mentioning.

Steel Nick

by nickjs21 on Sep 1, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions

The fantasy baseball penalty has always been a drink. I assume that for any non-baseball reference, the penalty would have to double. So, two drinks.

I want it. I've been grinding it out for awhile.

by woodsmeister on Sep 1, 2009 5:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I think I’ll already have that covered.

Steel Nick

by nickjs21 on Sep 1, 2009 5:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Mentioning it is prohibited entirely.

by Roger Dorn on Sep 1, 2009 6:17 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ll back you up on this. Mine is tonight, too.

by JRontherim on Sep 1, 2009 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ve been thinking I should join a league that isn’t my usual ultra-competitive keeper league.

This is Victor's home. Victor Jose, you too.

by westbrook on Sep 1, 2009 6:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Mine sucked. Really really bad.

by nickjs21 on Sep 1, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I need to leave work early to catch this game.

by Roger Dorn on Sep 1, 2009 5:17 PM EDT reply actions

By the way, hedging your bets? Stolen identity? Double life?

From Castrovince’s blog:

Valbuena batting 5th? Why don’t we bump the man down to 7th or 8th? I really do like him and think he could be a very good ballplayer, but 5th? Come on. Once we get Marson into that lineup at the catcher spot, and potentially moving a couple people around to accomodate Jordan Brown (meaning Sizemore shut down), that lineup will be pure position battle gold.

By Roger Dorn on September 1, 2009 4:22 PM

by dgcambridge on Sep 1, 2009 6:59 PM EDT up reply actions

and for the record, that is clearly not something I would say.

by Roger Dorn on Sep 1, 2009 9:06 PM EDT up reply actions

I thought it was you…until I read it.

by The DiaTriber on Sep 1, 2009 9:59 PM EDT up reply actions

I am thinking about confronting that person if it happens again.

by Roger Dorn on Sep 2, 2009 8:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Really looking forward to this game. I got a laptop set up so I can watch this since my normal pc only runs in safe mode (= no sound).

Brantley: 3-3, BB, SB, 2B
Carrasco: 6IP, 5H, 2ER, 1BB, 7K

That will happen!

by JP_Frost on Sep 1, 2009 5:59 PM EDT reply actions

Just missed it man.

Everybody should get ice cream every day.

by Joel D on Sep 2, 2009 12:13 AM EDT up reply actions

My bathroom is in the midst of being destroyed. I assume it has something to do with tonight’s lineup.

by APV on Sep 1, 2009 6:14 PM EDT reply actions   1 recs

What’d you eat? Try Pepto Bismol?

by stuart dean on Sep 1, 2009 6:19 PM EDT up reply actions

No, my bathroom is actually being destroyed, with no help from me.

by APV on Sep 1, 2009 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions

but is it demolished?

by Roger Dorn on Sep 1, 2009 6:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Not as of now. But that might change depending on how the work on the sewer line goes tomorrow.

by APV on Sep 1, 2009 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Demolishing bathrooms calls back to a happier time in 2007. It has something to do with the lineup, I’m sure of it.

I cannot f-ing wait. I am even getting a wifely exemption from my own no baseball (subset of TV) during dinner rule..

by stuart dean on Sep 1, 2009 6:21 PM EDT reply actions

Not to be an alarmist, but what’s up with all this Choo DHing lately?

This is Victor's home. Victor Jose, you too.

by westbrook on Sep 1, 2009 6:24 PM EDT reply actions

# Wedge also said Shin-Soo Choo will probably get spelled more down the stretch. Choo is two years removed from Tommy John surgery, so the Indians might still take some precautions with him.

by JRontherim on Sep 1, 2009 6:56 PM EDT up reply actions

cool. When I saw the capital letters T and J in that box I freaked at first.

This is Victor's home. Victor Jose, you too.
