Name 15 Years of Opening Day Lineups
Pretty cool "quiz" from the guys at Mistake by the Lake. Try to name the opening day lineups and starting pitcher for each team since '94.
I'm embarrassed at my performance, and am going to blame the fact that I've been working 14 hours a day for about 5 straight days. I got 108 out of 160 correct, and missed some pretty obvious ones, though I won't say who here yet. And there are some names on there about whom I had literally completely forgotten about. Worth your 8 minutes.

Adam, thanks. That was fun. Got 137. Only missed one pretty obvious one. But you’re right, there are some that probably nobody will get.

I’m impressed. I got 142, and I felt dumb about not getting more until I saw who I missed.
I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, though.

In a day or so I want to know the obvious ones missed and the rare ones remembered.

Yeah, I got brutalized there, as most everyone will.

135. I got murdered by the random DH’s, as well as the outfielders.

I am apparently the worst Indian fan ever. Or have no memory.

119, and I’m mad about a few I missed.
Is this the whale section?

124, murdered by one year fill-ins and one really obvious one. I did get all the opening day pitchers, my only saving grace.

I left off Jason Michaels and Dellucci. Though I’ve been actively trying to forget them, so I guess that’s something.

I left off Ben. And I stared at for at least 30 seconds trying to figure out who started in left for us. No idea.

138 correct, and because I owe a baseball card for all the guys I missed I feel terrible.
But that was really fun. Here’s to Einar Diaz and Karim Garcia!

116. Doing this earlier in the day probably would have gone better. Ones I’m mad about:
Late 90s 3B.

One I’m proud I missed:
Ben Francisco. Couldn’t think of our opening day LF for the life of me. Also, it took up a good minute of the 8.

For extra credit in 6.5 months. Against Chicago, against Buehrle (maybe?)
2010
C – Marson
1B – Marte
2B – Valbeuna
SS – Cabrera
3B – Peralta
LF – LaPorta
CF – Sizemore
RF – Choo
DH – Hafner
SP – Westbrook

Tough to predict the starter. Of course they’ll use seniority, but they’ll also make sure to have someone who looks good in spring training. I’d say Westbrook, Carmona, Laffey and Masterson are all in the running. I like Masterson as the trendy “turn the page” pick.

Yeah, that’s the toughest position. I just think that if Westbrook shows he’s healthy, he’ll be the guy. But who knows if that will happen.

128 … man I could not recall any of the OF in early 2000s.

I think a lot of people had the same problem. Collective amnesia. Every Indians fan blocked out the memory of guys like Matt Lawton and Ricky Gutierrez. I got 138 and felt awesome about it. I didn’t even know Jeff Manto or Candy Maldonado were Indians.

122. The early part of this decade was the most difficult, but the 90s were no sweat. My wife also tried to hold a conversation with me about dogs for the last 3 minutes. We do not have a dog.
No, not you. Your helmet!

120. I’m thinking that doing this before 2AM may have helped my score. Shawon Dunston was a huge surprise.

133. more than i thought. might have gotten just a couple more if i spelled right the first time i tried each guy or if i realized earlier i didn’t need first names.
