Omar wants to come back...
...and play somewhere next year.
I imagine he'd be cheaper than Jamey Carroll and might sell a couple extra tickets to the opener. But I guess if he signs back with Texas, that would happen regardless.

If he’d sign for utility man money, I’d say it’s a no brainer. A little goodwill for the fan base, and it’s not like having Omar as a utility man is going to cost us from contending for anything.

I’ve always hoped he would come back for one game and then retire. He should go out an Indian.

he’s not really a utility go though. he plays shortstop. he could fill in at 2b, but when has he played 3rd?

This year, for Texas.

Yesterday, and 18 other games this year.

Omar in a White Sox uniform would be the worst. Worse than Victor with Boston. Worse than Manny with Boston. Worse than Thome with anybody. It’d be awful.

Isn’t he a little old for college ball?

He’s a little too old for the College World Series, but he might have some eligibility left.

If we feel we can be legitimate contenders next year I’d rather have Jamie on the roster, but if a .500 season is all we can reasonably expect, I’d rather have Omar – for the fans and to act as a mentor for our young infielders.
It would be nice to see Omar finish his career in Cleveland. Indians fans still love him – and Omar loves to be loved (who doesn’t?).
If you believe it's just a game, you're also probably wondering why Santa keeps skipping your house every year.

with val cab per and laporta most likely starting in the IF and marte and donald as the leading backup IF candidates i don’t see how this would work…
unless im wrong..

it works if Marte doesn’t make the team, and Donald is still struggling with injuries. Then our infield backup becomes the Barf and C. Gimenez. Which doesn’t look good.

barf is already gone. i don’t think the marte decision and any consideration for omar would overlap in the least.

Giminez has garnered nearly all of the irrational bitterness this season has built up for me. I cannot stand that guy.

If there’s a guy on the Indians I can’t stand, at this point, it’s Sowers. He just looks like a guy who doesn’t enjoy his work (understandably enough). I can’t “hate” Gimenez — he’s just a marginal player. Tell him to grow a Sal Fasano mustache and he’ll be fine.

Even Sal Fasano can hit more than what, .148?
