Is it any coincidence that Roger Clemens and Curt Schilling are among the all-time leaders in it?

This is all well and good, but I learned today from ESPN’s Hot Stove U that Runs remain the most important stat. Insider content, for which you should be thankful if you are not an Insider. Discussion therein about whether runs or RBI are a better stat, whereupon my brain whimpered a little.
Thank the good Lord that I could only read the first few paragraphs.
