Damn it, Ryan, Hafner is not a strict station-to-station guy! He goes first-to-third fairly adeptly!

That’s it, I quit.

I was about the post the same thing. Pronk will steal a base on you too, if you’re not careful.

What can I say, I was drunk too.

No mention of wedge’s penchant for lineup tinkering and versatility? I would have given myself a good chuckle by mentioning those (if I was asked, that is). Not sure why, but I would be amused by saying that and mentioning nothing else.

And of course the new disney film starring wedge with christopher loyld – “Garko in the outfield”

In the new Geico commercial, Marte sings "Let me be myself" on Wedge's front lawn (with the cavemen).

I would have advised them to steer clear of the post-game pressers. Nothing but tics and platitudes.

It’s nice to see we actually improved by 4 games with our AAAA lineups this season.

Wedge is apparently on Pittsburgh’s short list as well, so I was asked about him by SBN’s Bucs Dugout. My response was very similar to the one above, but I didn’t mention Travis Hafner’s speed.

Why would Wedge want to manage another 90+ loss team?

I have a soft spot for the Pirates, and they look to have a solid core of young talent (albeit with nearly zero pitching), so I’m not sure I would wish Wedge upon them.

Pittsburgh is gritty.

Au contraire, Pittsburgh was gritty. They’ve done cleaned up since the 70s.

Well, then, he can restore it to its gritty glory!

Don’t know how many options a guy like Wedge would have besides teams that have lost a lot of games.

by Roger Dorn on Oct 5, 2010 7:59 PM EDT up reply actions

True. That is kind of a duh moment for me.

by emd2k3 on Oct 5, 2010 9:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Wait! The Mets did not lose 90+ games!

The Huntington connection?

There is no way that Neal Huntington would hire wedge.

Or better yet, Wedge managing the Mets.

With all the positions that are going to be available, Wedge is going to be managing somewhere next year. Even if Pittsburgh offers him a job, I’d guess that they won’t be the only team to do so.

At first I thought the title of this was “Ryan talks to Wedge with Drunk Jays fans,” which would have been absolutely fascinating.
