What’s funny is the article thinks Marte is a better fit at first with the Pirates, with Alvarez being “entrenched” at third. A lot of Pirates people think that Alvarez needs to move to first, as he’s quite the butcher at the hot corner.
Marte at third, and more Alvarez at first would actually make more sense for the Bucs.
He played about a third of the season in RF.

It looks like a good situation for him, but then again, this was a good situation for him.

I hope Marte does extremely well. I don’t understand why he never seemed to get an extended opportunity here.
I never knew Andy had a reputation for sarcasm. I can see how that wouldn’t have jived with Wedge, though.

LGT Now accepting applicants for new crush.
In the new Geico commercial, Marte sings "Let me be myself" on Wedge's front lawn (with the cavemen).
Marte wasn’t a crush; he was a cause.
It’s been many years since anyone thought he was going to be a special player, but we rooted for him to have the opportunity. At some point, we would have been satisfied to see him fail definitively, because it would have answered the question.
Never intended to imply I disagreed with any of that. Still, with the semantics adjusted, we now need a new cause?

Just thought some clarity was in order, that’s all.
Our newest causes seem to be about non-prospects getting too much opportunity.

In fairness, the Indians had little choice but to give Crowe the “chances” he got. I don’t see him as getting an opportunity so much as being cannon fodder, protecting Brantley from getting exposed to big-league pitching, too much and too soon.
Having said that, from the player’s point of view, what’s the difference? It’s a chance to show what you can do either way.
Anyway, my main point is that the use of Crowe isn’t such a mystery to me. Marte’s handling remains the enigma.

The injuries to Sizemore have certainly created opportunity for Crowe. I suppose if Jamey Carroll or Peralta had been hurt over the past few years that Marte would have also gotten a similar extended look – and perhaps even with the same results.
Anyway, it’s done now. I hope Marte does well and that Chisenhall can develop into a staple at 3rd.
Too small a photographic sample size.
My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts.

Well, I give him thanks for his tenure here. As a player, he frustrated me sometimes. Still, I wish him luck with the Bucs, even though I dislike Pittsburgh sports.
The saga continues.
He could be a runaway surprise success for the Pirates, and they would still suck all the way until he hits free agency.

Fine landing spot for Marte. Stick him at 3rd for 3 months and see what happens. Don’t jack him around. Let him settle in, play complete series, front to back. Don’t make him bunt. Good luck Andy. I’ll miss those occasional Marte Partays.
