You know, the PD could turn this idea into a new line of business:

“Lose your job recently? Take out an ad with us and thank all your loyal fans!”

With unemployment rates what they are this could be a moneymaker.

I was tempted to do a piece on Marte taking out a personal ad/want ad thanking Cleveland fans and keep it under 100 words. But, once I saw Sabathia’s ad, I was in love.

Well, it made my day so thanks.

I will never forget where I was for plate appearance #632.

I know times are tough for the newspaper business, but the PD shouldn’t cut back so heavily on the graphic design work.

Funny stuff.

Marte Quiz Time! What does Andy’s Tribe career have in common with what HOF hurler? (Clue within the ad copy.)

by YoDaddyWags on Dec 3, 2010 2:57 PM EST reply actions

After 24 hours, not sure what this means/what the answer is.

by afh4 on Dec 4, 2010 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

The number of PA would be my guess.

But quizzes work better in game threads, I guess. Anyway, Sandy Koufax, 858 career PAs.

Excellent. Thanks, Andrew!

This might be my favorite thing I’ve ever seen on this site.

"Have you ever thought about love????"

by Chemo on Dec 4, 2010 12:23 AM EST reply actions

Not thanking Eric Wedge? Don’t you think that’s a bit rude of you Andy. After all, you had a nice 2009 minor league season and even when you came up and hit a few dingers, Eric was considerate enough to stick you in the game after you sat like a load for three hours and six double espressos, at the very moment you had to hit the head. He made sure weren’t too tuckered out to enjoy the offseason. A little shout out won’t kill you.

I guess you missed where Andy thanked Manager Rick. Never let it be said that Andy Marte forgets his debts.

Ha! I didn’t catch that Rick part. Serves me right for reading the PD everyday.

The picture shows him pitching lefty. Would Wedge have given him a shot if he was a LOOGY?

We’ll see if he is with the Pirates when they come to Cleveland on June 17.
