I've battled for him. Manny knows this. Chris and Mark know it. We've had some rough times with David the last couple of years in this organization with people falling off the bandwagon ... saying 'that's it. This guy is driving me nuts' ... whatever. I think this staff and this pitching coach are going to remain confident that he's going to figure it out. I'm going to do anything I can to help him.

pretty good job by hoynes
Tribe reliever Joe Smith worked the lobby Wednesday. The Indians still talking about making a selection in Thursday’s Rule 5 draft. Are these supposed to be connected? Is Smith shopping himself?
Moved from swan pool terrace (swan) to fresh restaurant (dolphin).
Why would Smith have been working the lobby anyway? What was the point?

It is interesting that the issue of pitch selection gets mentioned. According to his pitch f/x data, he basically threw the same set of pitches at the same frequency last year as he did in 2009. The one anomaly is his 3rd and 4th start last year where he threw a much greater number of changeups at the expense of his fastball. Those also happened to be terrible starts for him, following his complete game on April 15th.
What may be a problem for Acta might have been perfectly fine for Wedge.

Just keep grinding and luck will reward.
In the new Geico commercial, Marte sings "Let me be myself" on Wedge's front lawn (with the cavemen).
