A slimmer Carmona? Image is from the Indans Facebook page.

It’s rather obvious that he had another dental upgrade over the winter.

He’s a big dude, isn’t he? De La Cruz is often described as a lefty Carmona in body type, it’ll be interesting to see if we get any glimpses of Kelvin in minor league play. Acta and co seemed pretty impressed with his first throwing session the other day.
I think its great Carmona is in shape coming into camp. It’s definitely a change from the past and combined with his initiative in pitching winter ball, hopefully a sign of his maturing as a pro pitcher. I said previously if he comes into ST in fighting shape it’d be a great sign – still think he’s the greatest asset on the staff if he gets serious about figuring out his own mechanics. Big if, I know…
De La Cruz is much thinner though judging by his weight.
Hopefully Carmona can get his career back on track.
I think KDLC’s weight is probably up from what is listed. Carmona was also super thin when he first entered the system (and got new teeth).
Brief blurb on De La by Ocker:
De La’s birthdate is listed almost everywhere as 1/8/88, but its actually 8/1/88, meaning he’s still 21.
We had this same problem with Jeanmar’s DOB, 10/2 vs. 2/10. Turned out he was older than we thought, 2/10.
so is it possible that these guys use spanish/american date formats based on which one makes them younger?

Much in line with the US not using the metric system, the entire rest of the world (save possibly Liberia, again) list day first, month second. It seem less arbitrary to me to list the time-markers in ascending order.
When I was in the military we also listed day, month, year and used the metric system. We also abbreviated the month in letters in many logbook & messaging formats (i.e. 26FEB10) which is even harder to confuse or juxtapose. I tend to use that format when I invoice clients because those expletives in accounts payable love to delay my loot for minuscule reasons.

In advertising, I work with layouts a lot, and it’s so much easier to measure according to the metric system than inches or decimal inches.
Don’t even get me started on how stupid picas are.
STBNL
It’s a game of inches, so picas and points rule.

For whatever my personal observation is worth, Carmona was noticeably hefty last spring. To the extent that he has a hard time consistently repeating his delivery and has associated control problems – this seems like an undeniably good thing. It is very hard for me to keep my Fausto adoration in check.
The last two years he’s come into camp looking like he’d been sitting on his butt drinking pork soda all winter. I remember ‘08 camp it looked like the only training he’d done was trying to fill CC’s spare pants by an April deadline. He got hurt real soon.
I was a little surprised to see this thread and the comments from the beat guys about Carmona’s weight because this image isn’t too pretty.

That’s not a great angle for most people, obviously
There are a lot of wonderful photos over in the P-D galleries. I really like this pic of Raffy P (he will always have the P) and Fausto:

Anyone else see pictures of Carlos Santana and think he looks like a Teddy Graham? Anyone?

This explains the 2 recs that the joke above got. I’m so glad I didn’t get it.
