- Speedy.
- Switch-hitter.
- Strong defender.
- Decent walk and contact rates for a backup infielder.
- No power of course.
Expansion-era Indians with even less power than Anderson Hernandez (4 HR in 584 PA):

I was actually in person for a Jolbert Cabrera home run. He touched home before anyone realized what had happened.
He only had 619 at bats for Tribe? It sure seemed like more.

Surprised to see Skinner on this list. They must have kept him around for his savvy on the basepaths.

I know a manager likes to bring over “his guys,” but this is not exactly what I had in mind. Zimmerman or bust.
Way to crush the hopes of the local boy trying to make good.

From deep down in the system, Tony has this amidst his notes today:
Position Change: 2008 14th round draft pick Carlos Moncrief initially signed with the Indians as a pitcher, a position he played the last two years. He was raw, but had huge upside because of his plus arm strength and high-90s fastball. However, when he was drafted he was also a highly regarded outfielder with a great arm and powerful bat, and apparently the Indians may have decided to move on from his development path as a pitcher to a new path in the outfield. While not confirmed as of this writing if he is indeed now a full time outfielder, he is listed as an outfielder on their roster sheet.

Carlos Moncrief at a home run derby competition in Mississippi in 2006 (he won with 25 homers, including a 500-footer).
Anybody got an audio feed for this afternoon’s game? I’m bored out of my mind at work, and my boss just started singing the Beach Boys down in his office. I’m in desparate need of some audio.

Yep, lets see how long he can go here. I really want him to do well, but he really seems to struggle out there sometimes. I don’t know if its talent, mechanics, or between his ears.

Well, it doesn’t seem like it’s lack of talent.
Another positive in his start so far — 4 groundouts, no flyouts.
perhaps he’s getting a little more downward action on the fastball today. I know the few times I was able to see him last year, his fast ball straightened up and he began giving up the fly balls and homers.

Duncan, Toregas, Gimenez – K, foul pop out to SS, groundout to pitcher.
Is it time to cut the fat off this team yet?
SS fodder?
When is the other game? Any word on Fausto?

A google image search result suggests there are a lot more Russell Crowe Fanatics than Trevor Crowe Fanatics. The curse of Trevor. Always living in the shadow.
Have you seen Russell Crowe lately? It’s hard not to live in his shadow.

Tom’s. they have and orange/mango something or other. i’m too lazy to go grab the tube. they have some other flavors as well.
Interesting. Can’t say I’d use it, but for those of us that don’t care for mint, I’m sure it serves the purpose.

it’s not as strong a flavor as you might think. but yeah, it ain’t for everyone. i was thrilled when i discovered it. haven’t used anything else since.
I thoroughly agree with this. Mint toothpaste is disgusting. Tom’s is amazing. Crest also makes a lemon toothpaste that’s pretty good.

so, wondering about this on my commute. i have a hard time at this point not seeing grudz win that job. seems to me we’ll end up designating him at the end of spring as well.
I think part of the plan is to DFA so many middle infielders at once that we confuse other clubs and are able to keep one or two.

I believe Rolling Stone voted it the worst “Rock and Roll Song of All Time” or something similar.

As bad as it is, it is bad in a relatively enjoyable way. It’s very earnest in how cheesy it is. There is worse. That and The Final Countdown do not belong in the top 5 worst songs ever, which they always are included in.

I gave Glee an honest shot when a bunch of people told me I should. I don’t see much that’s tolerable about it. And that guidance counselor has eyes twice the size of any human.
Steel Nick
I thought the first few episodes had promise, but then they doubled the number of songs (which have always been overprocessed and annoying) per episode and ratcheted down the weirdness, and suddenly it became what the first few episodes seemed to be a biting parody of. Sadly, my fiancee still loves it.

i don’t hate him, but i can kind of see why people might. i think manning is more annoying. and neither of them are as bad as what’s out there. mlb extra innings and/or mlb audio are eye-opening for the crap announcers that are out there. not to mention chicago alone.
He’s still new. Most animals are very wary of new things in their environment. It’s a well evolved defense mechanism. You should heed similar instincts.

I actually just watched a few minutes of an All in the Family episode a few days ago. This might not seem coincidental, but it is a show from 42 years ago, and TV Land is too busy showing Rosanne to show it regularly.
So, for those of us watching the box scores, how’d Fausto do really?

Pino hasn’t even begun to use up his options. He’s never been on the 40-man.
He may well still have an option left for 2013.
Hmm, not sure why I thought that. I’m drawing a blank, what was the big issue when we picked him up for Pavano? That they wouldn’t put him on the 40-man?

But we did lose Chuck Lofgren which reflects again the Indians total disregard and disrespect for guys that have put in their time. We will never get Lofgren back it was obvious he was going to be taken he is destined for stardom.
/Nosco.
God I hate Rule 5 complaining.
Nosco specializes in complaining about all the aspects of baseball that fans have no business complaining about because they require such intimate insider knowledge: HS/College/Marginal prospect evaluation and valuation, namely. Yes, he hated the Chiz pick b/c it jumped the BA mock draft line.
Ironically, the first time I had ever heard of Bosco was when he was railing on the Chiz pick, so he will forever be known to me as the guy that hated when the Indians drafted Chiz.
Totally appropriate. In a way, you have to give Swerbs credit for the Chiz pick, because in a way, Swerbs fired Nosco for railing against it.

Josh Judy with another good inning. We could see him in Cleveland this year – not bad for a 34th round pick.
I considered putting together a bullpen of television judges, but then I realized i didn’t care nearly enough to find someone with the last name Milian.

BTW, Anderson Hernandez against lefties is .289/.354/.396 for his career. Kahrl points out in the BP transaction analysis that he’ll be there if Valbuena makes no improvement against lefties.
