An update on our CBSSports.com Fantasy Baseball Commissioner League (for those interested, you'll be able to join for half-off through this link):
I've been having some trouble getting the last team owner locked down. If anyone's interested in joining, and is free Thursday night after 9 PM Eastern, send me an e-mail, and I'll either send you an invitation or let you know otherwise by Monday morning.
After thinking things over, I'm going to change the K-BB category to just plain K. WHIP is already a category, and having two categories in which walks are penalized is in retrospect too much.
Here's the draft order:
|5||You Know Me Al (Ryan)|
|6||UZR O RLY|
|7||Huff the Magic Dragon|
|8||St. Paul (MN) Zuvellas|
|10||MJs Going Deep|
We're going to go with a "snake draft", meaning that the team picking 12th in the first round will have the first pick of the second round, and vice versa. I've been trying to re-learn fantasy draft strategy, and it seems that everyone has a different one, depending on the size of the league and the scoring format. So I'm not going to overthink things; I'm going to go with the best player available (whether he be pitcher or positional player) for the first 3-4 rounds, and then start drafting by either positional or category needs. I know there's a school of thought that you should spend your top picks on position players, but I'd hope that the scoring system would even the distribution of pitchers and pitchers at the top of the draft.
Next Up: Live Draft, 9:15 PM Thursday. I'll have an open thread up here then for smack talk and general topics.
