Sizemore's start - inside the numbers
"Sizemore's strikeout rate has soared to a career-high 27.1 percent, and his walk rate has dropped to 7.6 percent, his lowest number since 2005...."
From ESPN Fantasy. So, ummm...that's great news.

Look deeper: I think his whole struggles stems from the fact that he’s faced an extraordinary amount of LHP and it’s carried over into his approach against RHP.
Grady’s Rates, 2010 versus career:
LD% – 26%, career 19%
K% – 21%, career 19%
BB% – 7%, career 11%
Normal ratios: PAs against LHP are 25% of all PAs. Yet this year, he’s faced LHP in 40% of his PAs.
Against RHP in 2010, he has 5 walks (10%) and 10K (20%). Against LHP, he has 1 walk (3%) and 7K (21K). So if we can tell anything from 73 PAs in 2010, it’s that he’s been useless against LHP, and he’s faced a high number of LH pitchers. With a few more walks against RHP (like, one or two more, seriously), his BB/K rates for the year would be on par with his career rates.
I’d agree that he’s not started well. Duh. But I’d argue that the problem’s been exacerbated by the extreme number of PAs versus LHP, which has thrown him off against RHP. He’s going the opposite way more often this year (15% this year, 12% career), but he’s not getting hits.
Yes, he’s sucked. But when he starts hitting, I’m not going to be surprised.

Remember when some here said in the offseason “Oh, big deal about all our lefties… Buehrle, Danks and Liriano are the only lefties in the division.”
Practicing my left-handed swing as I type. By next week I'll be able to hit Masterson and Smith.
That was me, and its still true (plus Robertson or Willis). We have faced a disproportionate number of lefties out of our division so far (A’s, Angels). The unbalanced schedule will even that out.
Isn’t this what I’m about to say, but with numbers?

Couldn’t some of this be due to all the lefty pitchers?

It’s just simply too early to tell if he’s having a horrible month, or if there is something legitimately wrong here. I hate April

Okay, who in the heck is posting the Dog-Human Hybrid banner ad?
That’s just … weird.
Blake: Thanks to you, I am damaged beyond repair!!
This is completely stupid, but ESPN Insider has a thing about Sizemore being on the block.
Jayson Starks more or less killed the rumor.
