I'll stick this here
The Pirates designated infielder Ramon Vazquez for assignment, a move that could cost them as much as $2 million.
The Pirates have 10 days to trade, release or waive Vazquez, who signed a $4 million, two-year contract before hitting .230 last season. Any major league team that acquires Vazquez and keeps him all season would be responsible for paying no more than the minimum salary of $400,000
….
The Pirates also purchased the contracts of relievers D.J. Carrasco and Jack Taschner from Indianapolis.
... Paul Hoynes is a really great guy ...
Sadly for Vazquez, Eric Wedge is not currently managing a major league team.

.994 career OPS. Wisely, they’d pared guys that Cust eats for breakfast—e.g. CC, Lee—and built a rotation that can handle him (cumulative .408 OPS, not counting Fausto, who the FO clearly hopes to revert to some anti-Cust form—1.708 OPS to date).
Saving Keith Woolner for other tasks, since 2010.
Listening to Red Sox game on WEEI last night. When Okajima pitched the announcer (Dave O’Brien, I think) cited OPS against. I don’t remember hearing anyone cite OPS on an Indians’ radio broadcast. Does this make Hammy more of a neanderthal than Hoynes?
The Red Sox also have been posting OBP on the Fenway scoreboard for almost ten years.
