Dear Hector:
In AAA, you faced 34 batters, with 15 strikeouts and 1 walk, thanks to throwing 62% strikes. You have obviously reviewed the AAA version of the presentation. Please don’t stop.

I didnt know where to put this but did you notice the Twins made a piching change tonight. Going with Slowey tonight and Blackburn tommrow. This is why the Twins win; smart baseball. Slowey pitched well against the Tribe ealrier this year and Blackburn is struggling so they put Blackburn in a matchup against Masterson figuring they can give Blackburn a lot more runs tommrow. I think it is little things like this that make Ron G. a great manager. I hope it blwo up in their face but seems really smart.
There are several reasons why the Twins win, but smart baseball generally is not one of them.
Consecutive bunts, man. Consecutive bunts.
The Twins were slated to give the ball to a struggling Nick Blackburn, but he had to head home for family reasons. Kevin Slowey, who’s gone 2-2 with a 3.42 ERA in his four starts, will move up to start on Friday. Thanks to the off-day last Monday, Slowey will still be pitching on regular rest. The Twins have yet to announce a starter for Saturday.

My apologies. I did not realize that. I actually read that was the reason why on cleveland.com earlier today and I thought it sound like a well-thoughout move. Once again my apologies I should have researched it more and probably should just stopped reading cleveland.com. Sorry guys.
Don’t beat yourself up over it. There are plenty of people here to do that for you.

You must be joking. Please see FredOx’s comment.

Hoynes reports that the Saturday starter will be Jeff Manship. 3.48 ERA in 4 starts in Rochester. last August, he appeared in 2 games against the Tribe, facing 10 batters, with 2 walks,1 hit and 1 strikeout (Choo).
We’re making stuff up now? I like this. In the alternate universe where Ron Gardenhire is a good manager, can Jhonny Peralta be a good player?
This seems extreme but YAY I DO NOT LIKE JOE SMITH
Practicing my left-handed swing as I type. By next week I'll be able to hit Masterson and Smith.
I don’t like relief pitchers who walk 18% of the batters they face (looks slightly askance at C Perez and Sipp).

Just for you, Brick … Smith is now sitting on 2.157 years.days of service time. He needs just 15 more days in the majors to qualify for arbitration, and to remain on schedule to reach free agency after the 2013 season. If he doesn’t get 15 more days, he won’t have the three years, which is the mandatory arbitration point. He cannot qualify as a Super Two after this season, because if he doesn’t reach three full years, he won’t have 86+ days in the majors this season, which is required in order to get arbitration as a Super Two. So either he’s a Super Two without arbitration, or he’s a three-year player with, there’s no in-between.
I hasten to add, none of this matters a whit if he sucks.

that is wild. this super two without arb is a new one to me.
not ignoring your last point, i’m fine not seeing him the rest of the season because, might as well, that’s why.
I knew that would blow your mind.
Technically, anyone with >2 and <3 years of service time is a “Super Two.” It’s just a question of which ones get arbitration.

Smith has gotten destroyed by righties this year, to the tune of a 1.200 OPS. So, yeah. Not sure what purpose he serves.
INDIANS (9-12): SS Cabrera, CF Sizemore, RF Choo, LF Kearns, DH Hafner, 3B Peralta, 1B LaPorta, 2B Valbuena, C Redmond. RHP Fausto Carmona (3-0, 2.96).
TWINS (14-8): CF Span, 2B Hudson, C Mauer, 1B Morneau, RF Cuddyer, DH Kubel, LF Young, SS Hardy, 3B Harris. RHP Kevin Slowey 2-2, 3.42).
Not a big deal. Just learn that anything that involves the oft-repeated mainstream media explanations of “playing smart baseball” or whatever is going to be viewed with a lot of skepticism.
I was thinking about this the other day let me get your thought. What if we move Peralta to the 3 spot and give him some protection and bat Sizemore and Choo around him. That is assuming the real Grady shows up I guess.
I applaud you for making any lineup suggestion that doesn’t involve Grady at #3. That shows real creativity.
But can’t you imagine Grady at the 3?! Not too many small forwards with that kinda speed in the NBA!

I thought they’d wait until next week, but I’m glad they made the move. Smith has been pretty unimpressive, and Ambriz has been throwing strikes – 15 k’s and 1 bb in 8 innings.
Nagy has everybody on a rotation in C-bus, getting regular work. Ambriz has been pitching every 3 days, and last time was 4/27, so they called him up to pitch. We’ll likely see him tonite or tomorrow.
I was just thinking yesterday about whether I’d rather have Awesome Kearns or Frank. Have not actually investigated the answer, just saying, the question cropped up.
