Boy Hoynsie really going out on a limb on that one….

…ok ok, thats not fair, I’m just giving him sh*t.

Anyone watching this Red Sox-Yankees game tonight?

by APV on Apr 4, 2010 8:03 PM EDT reply actions

It’s baseball, so I have it on in the background, but watching those two teams play is getting more and more unbearable to watch.

Agreed. I have to stone myself to watch the Red Sox, though.

Figures this has to be first game of the season, doesn’t it?

It’s ESPN’s world, folks. The rest of us just live in it. Can’t wait until they get the new “improved” 96-team NCAA tourney to screw up.

i’m watching the YES network in NY, and michael kay just said the yankees are fielding one of the best infields in baseball history.

by emil minty on Apr 4, 2010 8:19 PM EDT reply actions

It is a pretty impressive infield offensively. In their prime, Rodriguez and Teixera were pretty great defenders.

McNabb to Washington, eh?

... Paul Hoynes is a really great guy ...

by westbrook on Apr 4, 2010 8:30 PM EDT reply actions

Not to go on a football rant since there are only a few of us who like it, but I don’t know how more teams weren’t involved if it was only a 2 + 3/4 next year.

by JRontherim on Apr 4, 2010 8:32 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree, but McNabb hasn’t really shown he can handle the big spotlight.

... Paul Hoynes is a really great guy ...

by westbrook on Apr 4, 2010 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions

He hasn’t, but if you’re Arizona (Prior to bringing in DA), or you’re San Fransisco (prior to bringing in David Carr), you don’t offer what Washington got him for? I’m interested in seeing what this does to Jason Campbell, whom I’m a big fan of.

by JRontherim on Apr 4, 2010 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions

I would not do it if I’m those two teams. I’m high on Leinart and Smith. However, Oakland Buffalo and a few others should have done this.

... Paul Hoynes is a really great guy ...

by westbrook on Apr 4, 2010 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

However, for the sake of NE’s holding of Oakland’s 2011 pick, I am glad they did not get McNabb.

... Paul Hoynes is a really great guy ...

by westbrook on Apr 4, 2010 8:40 PM EDT up reply actions

We’ll see on Leinart, I have my doubts. Smith is good, and probably underrated, but I’ve yet to see if he can make the next step. It wouldn’t make too much sense for Buffalo only because McNabb is on his final year of his contract, and a new QB isn’t going to get that team to win. Oakland could win their division with McNabb.

by JRontherim on Apr 4, 2010 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Oakland would be a 8-10 win team with McNabb, IMO.

With J’Marcus, 4. Gradkowski: probably 6-to-9.

... Paul Hoynes is a really great guy ...

by westbrook on Apr 4, 2010 8:46 PM EDT up reply actions

You’re assuming that other teams like Oakland and Buffalo weren’t bidding for McNabb.

I really do hate seeing Victor in a Red Sox uniform.

The Red Sox are just unbearable. At least the Yankee’s own the fact that they’re the evil empire.

by gte619n on Apr 4, 2010 10:24 PM EDT reply actions

I’ve sort of accepted CC in pinstripes, but it’s a different story with Victor. Hopefully he signs with the Rays or Brewers or some team like that after this year.

by JP_Frost on Apr 4, 2010 10:29 PM EDT up reply actions

He can come play for us after we trade Brantley at the the deadline for pitching help.

LaPorta to left; Victor at first; C-Looos catching.

Where is Jon Meloan these days. Or Winston Abreu. Or R.J. Swindle.

by APV on Apr 4, 2010 11:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Didn’t find anything on Swindle.

Abreu appeared in one spring training game for Tampa Bay, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, while allowing 1 walk and recording 3 strikeouts.

Jon Meloan appeared in two spring training games for Oakland, 1 2/3 innings, 4 hits, 3 R (2 ER), 1 K.

by JRontherim on Apr 4, 2010 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions

This has actually turned into a pretty enjoyable game. Particularly as it has developed on the failures of both teams.
