Indians left-hander David Huff: "He is scared to pitch inside. If you are a soft-tossing lefty who doesn't pitch inside in the major leagues, you're going to get killed unless you're Tom Glavine."

Perhaps a bit harsh, but most likely very true. Gotta keep hitters honest, and only pitching to one side of the plate isn’t going to cut it.

He’s been hitting “93” on the Gamecast gun pretty consistently this year. Though, who knows how accurate that really is.

I’m always a little skeptical of reports that an athlete “won’t” do something, as opposed to the more simple “can’t”
Glavine, and the umpires who favored him, didn’t have QuesTec to deal with. How many strikes did he get called, low-and-outside, which clearly would not be called strikes anymore?
The next Tom Glavine will need a few more mph to look anything like Glavine’s results.
I remember seeing his first pitch in game 6 of the 1995 series – low and a good 5 inches off of the plate. It was called a strike, and I immediately thought “Oh well.”

And will, therefore, not really be the next Glavine. I, obviously, don’t actually think that is what the scout was saying here. It is mildly surprising that baseball people continue to make comps that clearly don’t make sense. The change in ball/strike calls has had a major impact on the game but gets none of the attention lavished on ped cases.
