YoDaddyWags recently put up a post detailing a pitching stat he "developed." Well, this was enough to get me to post my idea for what I feel would be a really cool offensive stat. I've been keeping it to myself because, hopefully, my brain reasoned, I could have some time one day to figure out if this really is useful. Then, PROFIT!
Well, maybe I need some input at some point anyways, so here it goes:
For the lack of a nice name like RATBOP (that's really as fine an example as you'll find, right there), it's called "average runs scored in inning where hitter bats (period)"
I hinted at this once before, apparently upon hearing that OH NOEZ GARK IS GAWN ... so... does it already exist?
Did your first hitter in the inning have a 13-pitch AB that weakened the pitcher or forced a lesser pitcher into the game? Bam. He gets credit here, provided the batters after him take advantage.
