Laffey to be called up to start Friday
Per Castrovince on Twitter — obviously, our preseason poll was very persuasive. No word yet on who will be sent down at that time. RHP Joe Smith was called up in time for tonight's game, taking David Huff's spot on the roster.

And have Henderson and Donald starting every day, with only misplaced Jhonny as the middle infield back-up?
No. The answer is almost certainly Sipp.
And have Perez as the only lefty out of the bullpen (with a predominantly righty starting staff?). The answer is almost certainly… er … Sipp?

Yeah, it’s hard to see who else it would be. I can’t see them sticking with 8 in the pen. Perez? Same lefty thing, and why DFA the guy now? I guess the other option would be JLewis, but Sipp has been so much worse.
I don’t think having two lefties in the pen is a priority. All the more so when the guy you’re keeping has an ERA of 27 over the last 10 games.
Valbie’s clock is messed up, and he’s one of the worst players in the bigs. He’ll have to go down eventually.

Since that May 28th game in New York, Sipp has appeared in 9 games, pitching 3.2 innings (11 outs) against 35 batters, a .686 obp against. In that span he has allowed 16 of his 25 hits, 7 of his 18 walks, 5 of his 6 home runs, and 15 of his 19 runs allowed. His ERA since May 28 is 36.82. Prior til then it had been a mere 1.40 in 19.1 IP.
We’ve seen a lot of sucky stretches from our relievers, but this is one of the worst.
I am still a fan of Tony Sipp.
