He should fit right in. He’s OPS’ing .554 at Columbus this year.

What the MLE for that?

Mike Rouse?

That’s the baseball equivalent of the n-word. No ballplayer should ever have to suffer that comparison.

Ok. I apologize. Perhaps some percentage of Ramon Vasquez would be a better estimate?

How I yearn for Jamey Carroll

Why not place him on the DL, if he’s injured? What is the purpose of the DFA?

I dont know this and this is complete speculation, but the Twins released him and when he was complaining about things, so maybe the same situation here?

by johio1 on Jun 8, 2010 5:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Only thing I can think of is to get him off the 40 man.

This is the obvious reason. The risk of losing him is not that big of a deal to us. If we lose him, we lose him. It’s not like he was making himself into any kind of trade bait.

Why not give Bixler a shot and see if he can play? My guess is Valbuena is being groomed as our super utility guy of the future. When ACAB gets back, Donald goes to 2B and Hernandez gets released. At the end of the year my guess is 1B Marte, 2B Donald, SS ACAB, 3B???? Just my two cents.

by johio1 on Jun 8, 2010 5:19 PM EDT reply actions

Bixler is awful. I’ve seen enough of him.

by Toxicadam on Jun 8, 2010 6:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Hernandez is a glove man. This will be fun.

Haven’t seen a gamethread up yet (and can’t stick around), but I have a bone to pick with SBNation.

Here is the pregame summary for the Bos/Cle game tonite:

The Boston Red Sox seek to continue their excellent recent roll, as well as maintain their longtime mastery of the Cleveland Indians, when the two teams continue a four-game series this evening at Progressive Field.

As far as I can tell, our all time record vs Boston is: 1011-951. Hmmm seems to be some hyperbole going on.

STRASBURG UPDATE: Filthy.

  * How can anyone go on that site without punching their screen repeatedly? My does it suck. If it was created non-ironically, my sympathies to the person behind it. I don’t think it’s very Safari-compatible because nothing did what I expected it to.
